Looks a little too panamera for me...

Really? I think it looks great. Nice evolution from the previous car. As a bonus- no IMS/RMS issues...

Good GAWD! I was OK with the profile view, but from behind? Almost as ugly as the E89 ass end. Maybe worse. Reminds me of the Chrysler Crossfire - NOT what you want people to think if you're Porsche.

I hope you aren't serious. The E89 35is rear is pretty sweet. Probably just as nice as the E85/E86 M IMO. So not sure where you were going with that statement.

The Cayman is pretty nice for a poor mans Porsche. I would buy it just to drive around town with my E92 M3 and E70.

Hmm. I can't decide, I'll have to look at it awhile.

Looks bigger, but if they went after weight the way they did in the Cayenne, it might actually be lighter, along with a more powerful engine (and as noted, no IMS, and a real oil system). Now that would be interesting.

I like the shape, but I'm getting pretty tired of the cheesy led strips on all the lighting units. Looks like those Christmas light "ropes", just doesn't do it for me. One thing is guaranteed, it will, and it's options will, be grossly overpriced.

Sorta like the e89?

Seems unavoidable with cars these days, it amazes me how expensive sports cars have gotten, they've driven away (pun not intended) from the raw sports car enthusiast but sports + luxury and tacked on a 15k premium. A no option 1M at the time seems like a bargain compared to this, and yes there were places that allowed you to order at msrp without the 10k dealer charge.

Having driven multiple 911 versions (base, S, S with performance kit, turbo) and Cayman, Cayman S. Have to pose the question that a lot of trade mags say with a whisper - better than a 911? (possibly) Yes it's less expensive and intended to be entry level but the drive is fantastic - handling is more precise and controllable IMO.

New pics do look like a 2 door panamera from an angle but I think the deeper air ports looks more aggressive...

Absolutely the e89 is overpriced. Porsches just seem to have the mongo option list and egregious pricing schemes to go along with them. For me, the Z06 is a better bargain when you get near $75k.

Not to mention the maintenance is killer.

I still want to find a cheap Boxster S, do the IMS fix and use it for a summer/weekend car and use it for the occasional DE with PCA...

Agree. The older units with the fix, seem to be holding good values and the interior has gone by way of the cheap German plastics. Ultimate would be to find a fair condition 993 (*dream*)

Agreed. Options pricing is beyond belief: "Radio On Button" $1,500; "Radio Off Button", $2,000; "Base Steering Wheel", $3,000. It's almost that bad.

BMW is almost as bad though, at least in terms of the overall "base" price. Even our beloved cars were, when first on the market, close to 60K.

Yes, maintenance is a bear, and parts are more expensive than those stamped with the letters BMW. I think I'd rather have an older Miata than the Boxster S. Even with a new IMS bearing and shaft, I'd still worry about that engine imploding.

Yea but at very least if you picked up something that has 50k and hasn't imploded yet, chances are it's one of the ones that wasn't built on Fridaiy lol.

New cars just don't do it for me, everything in the past 3 years is too big, too heavy, too expensive. The only cars that I can see myself driving aside from the e86 is the previous gen Boxster or S2000 - and only b/c if I'm looking for a 2nd toy, I want top down =)

Agree. I've started looking for an E30M3 as well as an E28M5 (E39 me like too)

Good point on the Boxster. S2000 is also on my short list for a top-down toy if I ever had the room. I have a buddy with a 2002 supercharged S2K. It gives the Z4M a run for its money.

Totally agree on new cars. With the exception of the 1M, which has what I'd look for, except of course the price.

Met a friend of a friend I met two weekends ago who is working on a E36 M3 turbo build. He's expecting to get at least 600 RWHP, on intake and exhaust manifolds good for 1K HP at the crank. (Several kits out for that car.) He's a machinist/fabricator, and has already upgraded the suspension (AST, other bits), full custom exhaust, reinforcements, etc. I've driven the E36, and it's a really well balanced car. Ought to be quite a hoot with that power level.

GL with your search. Finding a nice E30M3 is a quest, but worth it!

Thanks, I've got a line on 3, from a group in Ohio, not cheap, but matching VINs on panels. I really want a simple vehicle, when the BMW build quality was very high. E28M5 is probably not gonna happen in the U.S., just not that many of them, but God that interior was (sorry ladies) TITS!

The Cayman looks good. I like it.. Would drive it everyday if it's neighbor's car.
