So they would not be a drop in for the 2004 then because of the air bag / occupancy sensor change then if I am reading correctly.

Don't see why not, they should drop in. With regards to the air bag occupancy, if the connections are different, that I don't know.

What I was reading, if I was reading correctly, is that they are different and will throw a code. Those look lighter than my interior as well, though that might be the photo.

May be worth checking the interior color options for both years. Aside from that, you could purchase the passenger airbag bypass module which would have the pass airbag always active (but no codes).

Actually, according to BMW, those seats are light sepang bronze if they came out of an M. BMW did not make a beige interior for the M model. If a buyer tried to match a beige interior (LAAB is the interior code), the seats would not match perfectly in color. http://www.bmwz4roadster.net/bmw_z4_interior_M.htm
Interior code for light sepang is LTA8. And the 2004 occupancy sensor is not compatible with 2006 and up seats. The OC has to be changed, or bypassed or air bag light will always be on. |

That was my fear. Wrong color and wrong fit.
