Will not work on mine because they don't carry a switch to select 6 Disc changer and I decided I still want to keep mine.

If you don't have a 6 disc changer this should work for you. It is brand new in box.

Can you elaborate on how this is different than the BMW OEM Ipod connection kit? You can't select playlists, but simply control volume and hit next track?

I never had it installed, but from what I gathered its basically treats your head unit like an mp3 player, so no playlists. I'm not an apple user. Follow this link in the OP.

This has an aux input built into it. So if you had one installed, you won't need it anymore if you install this.
