Schrick Cam Setup?

Has anyone had any experience with swapping out their cam?

I have decided to keep my M Naturally Aspirated and this would be the last modification I would look to do.

I am trying to decide between 280 degrees and the 288 degrees. My shop said with labor, we would probably be looking at about 5k out the door for everything.

I will be going with new rocker arms, valve springs, seats and retainers as well. I do track this car about once a month and the goal is to squeeze out a little more torque on the weekends, but retain some daily drivability.

I am already, running these performance mods:

- Turner Power Pully
- AFE Cold Air Intake
- Active Auto Werks Headers
- RPI Exhaust
- 4.10 Rear Differential
- Active Werk ECU Upgrade

Thanks

What kind of gains do you expect for 5k?

I am really looking for more torque gains then top end hp. The majority of the time at the track I stay in 3rd and 4th gear, which is where I want the extra power.
The car is hitting 145 in 5th at 7000 RPM on long straights. I would like to pick up an additional 10 ft lbs of torque through 5000 to 7000 RPM range

Think the mods no like. Trying to help a member.

Here ya go.
"Peak power" of 353hp which is not toooo schabby

Mid range torque increase with no effect on idle.

You may want to drop a note to some of the tuners, TTFS comes to mind, as they all do this mod.

If I ever dump my non M for an M I would definitely go whole hog NA.

I think the tune in that example is the most important. Of course you cant look at the tune and the cams seperately as they are adjusted on eachother but just the cams give only a gain above 6.8krpm(if I look at the graphs correctly) which is to be expected. Normally: bigger cams (more opening at longer duration) means gain in high revs and loss of torque in low revs. With that tune they correct that pretty nicely, probably by setting the timing earlier. But that does give more strain on the rodbearings because the bang comes earlier before TDC so the bearings get more force before tdc to cope with.
