2003-2005 3.0 Have more horsepower than newer models ?
Are the older 3.0L engines a lot faster than the new ones ?
I think the older ones had 20 more horsepower. Is that going to make a difference in acceleration times ? I AM NOT talking about the 3.0si. This is in reference to the normal 3.0. Please do not bring up si. |

The 2003-2005 3.0 has 225hp, the 2006+ 3.0si has 255. The 2003-2005 2.5 had 184hp, the 2006+ 3.0 (sold in Europe as the 2.5si) has 215. People don't often compare the old 3.0 to the new because there's not much point - the 10hp less is a negligible difference in real-world performance and the newer engine is lighter and gets better gas mileage.

The N52 engine is a beautiful thing. More torque earlier on too, if I'm not mistaken. |

So what you guys are saying is that the 2003-2005 3.0 225 Horsepower is as fast as the 2006 3.0 ( NON SI ) with 215 horsepower ?
And this is because of the lighter engine ? |

Also, after 2005 auto manufacturers had to change the way they reported horsepower claims. In most cases horespower dropped for 2006 and newer models b/c of the way it was reported while the care remained exactly the same...this may have some bearing too.
