APEX EC-7s from Spring Group Buy

Has any one received their APEX EC-7 wheels from the last group buy? I'd love to see them on your car! I got probably the most popular color and size combination (Anthracite 18x9.5 ET35), so I won't get mine until the first week of June.

Mine shipped right away. So far I haven't had time to take many pictures but I am really happy with them. Next time I take the wheels off I am going to put BMW emblems on, have received negative feedback having the apex ones on.

Looks sick! I actually think its cheesier to have BMW center caps on non oem BMW wheels, id say stick with apex or no center cap at all.

I received mine pretty quick, can't say enough good things about the customer service from the Apex guys. I emailed the main guy via this forum (forget his name) and he was very responsive. And the few times I called the guys were patient and took good care of me. Wheels shipped pretty quickly - I had them sent right to my indie shop and they slapped them on my Z4MR along with RPI exhaust. I need to get some pics up, but I love the wheels. Others who have seen the car love them as well.

I'm a little confused though because my Apex wheels DO have BMW logos in the middle. I'll have to check the OEM wheels sitting in my garage...maybe the shop took them off the OEM wheels and put them on the Apex wheels?

My .02 worth is that the BMW logos look great on the Apex wheels. I don't hang out with a bunch of die-hard car aficionados, but no one has picked up on the BMW/non-BMW wheel thing.

Here are some pics of my new EC-7's. Again, when I picked up my car from the shop the BMW logo caps were already on the wheels. So if they didn't come that way from Apex, then I guess my indie shop did this for me. Either way, I didn't even notice that was unusual until someone here mentioned the Apex logos in the middle of the wheels. Personally I think the BMW logo looks pretty natural on the wheels. All the comments I've received so far (from non diehard car people) are that they love the wheels.

I don't think pics do justice to the three dimensional nature of these wheels.

I like these wheels, but not too sure if I like cleaning them as I'm spending too much time as is cleaning the open spokes of the stock wheel What do you guys use or do for a "quick" cleaning on these?

Great question XMetal...I was thinking the same thing myself while washing the car today. In particular I'd like to know what spray on cleaner product people recommend.

When I buy a new set if wheels, I wax or seal the faces and the barrels...they come clean very easily...sometimes I just use my pressure washer and no cleaner at all

I use P21s Gel cleaner...works great. Just bought some pinnacle wheel wax but haven't tried it yet.

Yep, I waxed my ARC-8s that I got in the other Apex group buy this year. Since mounting, I've only used my car wash soap with a quick wipe down from a soft wheel brush. I think it's overkill and just rinsing would be fine, but it goes quickly. I don't use harsh wheel cleaner because I assume it'd strip the wheel wax faster. I also have ceramic pads so my dust is almost nonexistent compared to stock pads.

Or you can go dustless pads. The dust just rinse right off and don't look that dirty between washes.

I thought I read that ceramic pads are louder...no?

And what is meant by "dustless", what allows them to be dustless? And how does that affect performance, particularly if you're tracking it?

Akebono Euro pads. Had them for a year. No noise at all, wheels always looks good between washes. I tracked with them twice last year. They're fine. Mind you, it is a smaller track and the speed isn't that fast since, lots of small sharp turns and the longest straight I can only go to the top end of 3rd gear before I had to hard brake.

Stoptec and Cool Carbon pads are on my list for the next time around for street and track. I might even sell the Akebono pads and get CC pads for this year.
