I've talked to VF Engineering at this E90 meet I went to. Their kit is done and they say its very similar to the Z3M late model with the S54 Engine. Their only setback is software and I wasn't told a time but just it'll be done ... someday =X Well that is a lot better then the rest of the companies that do forced induction for BMW's. Since all the emails I've sent out was responded with maybe in a few years.
Theres always the option of a custom kit with a piggyback.... depends on how anxious you are. |

Ess tuning will have a kit out by February. A more conservative kit,no inner cooler but i will have an ASA blower. They said power will be 440-460 crank horse power. It will be similar to the VT kit for the E46 M3. So i think no headers are required.

Gosh they all hate me when I emailed hpf back in august of 07 their reply was
"We will be but are about 2 yrs from getting to that car and completing the kit. I will keep your contact and let you know when we will be doing that and keeping you updated. Dave Nguyen (Sales Manager)" Got similar answer / rejections from all others that did forced induction for BMW's. But everyone is getting positive replys. I think I'm destined too keep my car N/A |

I saw the HPF kit in Performance and Sound (lord, what a trashy magazine!) and liked the look of it - very OEM-style. If I were to go FI, it'd be my top pick. However, isn't it $12k for the M3 version?

The ECUs in the cars change rapidly, about as quickly as CPU advancement, so while the hardware is pretty much the same, the software bit is more difficult. From what I've read, each iteration has to be cracked by the tuner, as BMW goes to great lengths to protect the software and offers tuners no help at all.

Engine bay isn't layed out the same. Space is an issue as well as software.
