Exhaust Install - Estimate Quote

How much can I expect to pay a reliable indy-shop for a front-to-back exhaust install?

it probably varies geographically. I'd ask 2-3 local places

Will do when I get closer to buying, just wanted a ballpark figure based on what people have paid on here.

What do you mean by front to back? I did it myself (with help from my buddy) and it took us about 1.5 hour to swap out x-pipe and mufflers. It took us a good 4-5 hours to do the whole thing from header to the mufflers. The parts were Supersprint and used so no problem with fitment. So it will depend on what you have as well (straight swap or custome piping, etc...) Just shop around

WHS. Mine was also super sprint and took 3 hours, 1 person working and 1 mostly just giving support.

X-pipe and muffler took me around 2 hours. Did it all myself, and with the car on jacks. I've done the mufflers so many times though you'd think I was trying to take Crfine's record muffler on/off record from him (nah, I'm really not that close, he's still way ahead).

If the car were on a lift, and you have an impact wrench (which a shop would have), I'd knock around an hour off that. (Shop that did my E92 mufflers only, before I started DIY'ing, did that job in 30 minutes. Lift, impact wrench.) I'd estimate about 1 hours of labor for a shop doing the work, maybe 1.5, can't see it being more than that. Could be wrong, but that's my best shot.

I checked my past invoices.

.5 hour for muffler.
1 hour for X-Pipe.
5.5 hours for headers plus parts.

The most difficult part with muffler is the alignment. A helper can speed the process.

Last edited by RobMCoupe; 08-17-2012 at 12:47 PM.. Reason: Added headers labor hours

Thanks for the replies.

By "front-to-back" I meant headers to mufflers, Supersprints at that.
