I'm a big fan of 3M DP-420 (it's also available in black). I don't recommend it for this application. It's a great adhesive with really good peel strength, but those properties require it to be kind of soft and creep under continuous load(bolt clamp). I recommend a metal filled epoxy like JB weld. It's cheaper and more readily available and should have much less creep.

If you want something a little better you can spring for the titanium filled "repair" epoxy from Devcon.

Update

I just did this reinforcement this weekend.

When you get into it, you can see why these fail.
The gauge of metal used is very thin.
They rely on putting a profile on the metal to add strength (it's not a flat surface)

This makes it more suitable to expoy because it fills the profile under the flat reinforcement plate.

After getting into it, I agree with above, something like JB weld would work just fine.

I upgraded to the H&R ARBs as well so we'll see how these stand up.

Garage List
Bump, does anyone know if the measurements provided here are the same for a non-M (3.0si)? I assume they are because both M and non-M share the same p/n 31351094552 for support bracket #3 in diagram below:

I'm sure they would be the same.
I can't see then making the frame different just for the M.

Frame mounting points are the same between Si and M as inTgr8r points out.

No, most of the info is contained in this thread.
I think I have a few pics, I'll see if I can dig them up for a DIY thread.

As an update, after several years and many track days, the plates are still holding strong with no signs of stress fractures.

I completed a set, and they are great! If anyone is interested, I can make you a set for $35 shipped. Made with 3/16" steel. You can epoxy it on, or weld it on the choice is yours. I will send it to you as bare metal, 2 plates only. If you like, I can also add 4 new sway bar self locking OEM nuts and 2 tubes of loctite metal epoxy as a kit and sell for $55 shipped. I will be making them first to pay first to get and will produce a unlimited amount needed. Same week fabrication and shipping!! Can either PM me or make a list here, and PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT THE PLATES ONLY OR THE KIT. I will also be posting this on the classifieds. Thank you!

(Please note I am not a master fabricator or what not, so it will not be a laser cut perfect piece. I will obviously sand the edges down and get it to be as smooth and fitting as possible)

Interesting thread. My '05 3.0i is tracked regularly and I assumed this problem was only on M's because of the larger diameter front ARB's either stock or aftermarket. I'm running the stock 24mm.

However, a year or two ago I broke a support clamp on the right front. Didn't notice any issue with the frame but I see the support clamp is identical between my car and the M. Wonder if I'm generating enough stress that the issue should be addressed?

Given how simple this modification is, the question isn't should I do this, but why wouldn't you?
