OEM License Plate Light Conversion

My LED license plate lights arrived today. Took about 30 minutes to convert them. I originally was going to purchase from e90lighting, but decided to go with more subtle look of OEM. I just wanted the license plate light color to match my Takarbon AE. It's funny how my last two mods I can't see or feel while driving. Here are some pics for comparison.

Nice, I've been meaning to do my interior.

Where did you end up ordering from?

I ordered from Tomkinson BMW Parts. Part numbers are

61138365340

The total was around $30 plus shipping. Most after market is around $50.

Kool...thanks for the tips. I have aftermarket LEDs and they're super bright. I may decide to go this route to get a more subtle OE look.

Count me in for the Light 'Fest. I'll be the OEM system for baseline...hahah.

Seriously though, looks great Rob, definitely going to add that to my list of mods!

Are they plug and play? I remember you mentioning an adapter of some sort...are you going to write a DIY if there is conversion required?

Light 'Fest!

I'm in. Not sure if my wallet is though. It ran away under the bed and won't come out after seeing the list of mods we both want after seeing so many great options last weekend!

So let me get this straight.

These are OEM LED Lights from the E89 and you're just ordering a new bulb and socket?

Everything else is plug and play? Any error messages?

I've been doing an extremely good job not spending on the car (ever since coming back to the states from a China internship last summer)
The only things I've spent on were new front rotors, super blue brake fluid, VANOS maintenance items, and upcoming labor costs

Yup, from my home country

The E92Lighting ones are from R-Dash, I'm pretty certain.

I've also bought angel eye halos direct from R-Dash before for my E46 325Ci. They have outlasted EVERY other CCFL-style angel eyes that my friends have tried. And I got them for the cheapest amount too

There is a DIY out there. The plug swap is the only needed to fit the new lights. These are complete lights with housing. No error code at all. I find the link on the Internet but it was in German. Google translate was really handy. I will attach the PDF.

I love the R-Dash ones! I also have them on my M coupe. It really improves the look of the rear at night. I also like bright lights in the rear since my last beauty (E46M3) was totalled by someone who rear-ended me.

I wanted to provide an OEM option. R-Dash I'm sure are very nice. My idea was to modernize my Z4MC without being too obvious. This makes the car appear to come from factory with LED.

Thanks again Rob! I just did this mod yesterday and love it. Definitely gives a more modern look to the car without looking aftermarket like some of the "super bright" options out there. Doesn't draw too much attention to the plate but gives the rear a really clean look at night time!

Parts were super cheap, and since they are OEM BMW, the fit and finish of everything is spot on. Took about 5 minutes to do using only two tools (thin plastic pry bar and small metal pick).

Glad you like it. Can't beat OEM

What I like most is the car appears to come from factory with LED license plate lights.
