Next Gen Z4 and the M3V8

First of all a big hello to everyone on bimmerpost. I've been lurking here for longer then id like to say and i've found these forums to be well informed, entertaining, and at times the focus of heated and passionate debate (see m3post lol)

My question relates to the Z4M. At the end of this year I will finally be in a position to afford my first decent sports car. Ive read zoomzoomers thread with interest regarding the prototypes for the next gen Z4.

In short for those of you in the know or who would like to speculate:-

1) When can we expect the next gen Z4 and Z4M.

2) Will the current Z4M inherit the new M3's V8 in this generation or will that be held back for the next?

3) Basically i'll go ape if the Z4M gets the M3V8 but is it a good idea to lay down so much money for a car that i will keep for years to come if its to be the last year of an outgoing model. I ask this from a technical point of view (improved chassis, maybe MDCT, etc) rather then a resale point of view.

Thanks in advance.

Well next gen Z is going to be 2009. There is debate on what engine. Check out the Z2 / Z6 forum http://www.zpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=85 as this pertains to this topic exactly!

edit: about getting one it depends on your style. There is talk that there may not be a coupe version of the Z for the next model... which would lead someone like myself to buy a current model coupe.

I prefer coupes also. I wouldnt care for a convertible. Pretty quiet in those forums though.

Well...if you've lurked for long enough you'd have seen this speculatory discussion before. My take is that the next gen Z4 will happen 2010, maybe late 09. It seems like 09 would be quick since we haven't seen it in an auto show yet...

As far as the Z4M or Coupe version, you're probably looking at 2012. You gotta give the M3 a couple years head start, before you see a next gen Z4M with the new V8.

I think that's the best guess with history taken into account.
