3.0 si Xenon headlights? :(
Hey guys, I know...I should've gotten the xenon headlights when I had the chance when I customized the Z4 ... but since I dont have any xenons, im stuck with Halogens and im getting more and more ticked off that I dont have HID/Xenons. So I talked ot he dealership and they said they can add the xenon headlights and the modules and the whole smash, (which would've cost 700 as an option when I First got the car), but will cost almsot 5000 Does anyone know if its possible to just add HID/Xenon headlamps/bulbs to it wthout the cost of 5000? I mean i understnad it wont steer down and stuff, but thats fine... anyone?

i personally had success with this kit:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=101&parent=85 results: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152375 of course now queue the ppl who are going to come in and say its crap (at least this comes up at bimmerforums.com) - anyways the Z4 already has projectors but you are missing the auto level feature. Yes you will need the bulb out cancelers. |

Wait, so this kit worked for you when u had halogens on your Z4? How long did it take u to do the whole thing for you, and did the bulb out light turn on for you?

many people will say never to put HID's in a non-HID projector or housing and i absolutely agree with them 100%. but when i did finally see them in the halogen projector, i was shocked at how they did not blind you and the light/cutoff was extremely similar to the stock HID's. so now i've changed my opinion and say "never put HID's in a non-HID projector or housing......unless you drive a z4" many people will not believe this but it's true. the halogen projectors on the z4 really output the HID light very well. just stick with the 35w 4300k kit and it should look stock. hell i even passed NJ inspection with them |

well I did have trouble with an earlier kit...like ones made 4~5 years ago... but more recent kit like 2~3 years old, work just fine.
I think you won't have problem with it. just give it a shot. Oh when you "try" them out, make sure the car is on cuz when it is off, it will be on but it might flicker when the car is on.

OP, I am on the SAME EXACT mission as you. I called the BMW dealership and they told me ~$5,000 to have HIDs in a 2003 Z4 which currently (and unfortunately) has halogens. The halogens are surprisingly good for halogens though but I REALLY want some HIDs.....but I don't want to pay $5,000 freaking dollars for an original $700 option.
I'm so glad I found this thread tonight I was looking at MTEC, DDM tuning, Xentec, etc I can't make up my mind. So none of these kits caused a dash error? Because it's seriously a much better alternative than dropping 5G's |

Mtec's are like $300+
I would just drop $60 on a cheap kit first to see if it works or not. if it does GREAT! if not, one hour labor($90~120) at the dealership can fix that so you're still making out on top

I have had horrible luck with my car if I tamper with it lol. all 4 things ive attempted to do with it resulted in it either going to the bodyshop or dealership... I fail at automotive modifications
