They did a GB run for us.
If you contact them, I'm sure they will do a one off. (not cheap though)

Its been long enough, maybe there's interest in another GB here.

You'd see some improvement with a short shift kit mate. I think it's worth it.

Right now I'm tossed up between the RE kit or this. RE kit is immediately available and not as pricey, however I do not doubt the AS ssk would be a better choice

Get the AS, trust me lol

Although if you go AS its so notchy you'll need to change to a taller knob

exactly my problem with SSKs they make the shift either heavier or add alot of notchyness to the shift quality...

I put the stock knob back on after the install. Works for me.

Does anybody still have one they need to install? I installed mine ~6 months ago (with help from this thread) and thought about adding my installation tips. I figured I may have been the last one to install the shifter from the final group buy though.

^ I know someone who has yet to install.
I think he was planning to get to it this spring.

Unless he has made any changes to how he is manufacturing these, there are a few tiny little mods/tricks you can make to the AS kit during installation that will take ALL notchiness out of it. As I recall I discussed what I did in my original posts but honestly, I haven't read through it again (I'm really friggin long winded!....) Mine ended up not notchiness at all and also took out all the slop of the original, which I am very familiar with having had an E46 M3 before this. If you think you are happy with the original that is great but truly, you really can't imagine just how much better it can be.

Great write up, will be going through this on the weekend. I have to remove my diff anyway, so I'm thinking I might as well remove the driveshaft to hopefully make things a bit easier. That clip doesn't sound fun

For anybody curious, Ronald is still making these. Got mine within a week of ordering, custom spec, and around GB price ($350 + shipping?)

More tips:
1. Take a curved pick tool and use it to hook over the old clip & yank it out. I can't remember if I read this somewhere or thought of it myself, but it made the process much easier.

2. Assemble the AS shifter outside of the car and rotate the bushings a few times. The tolerances are so tight that it can be hard to install the first few times. If you slip it on & off a few times outside of the car, it's much easier to do the final install.

Sounds like a few of you have AS kits on order, I talked to Ronald this morning about a kit for my Z4MC, might have to pull the trigger on this soon...

Went through this earlier today. Thanks again for the guide. Check out the room you get when the drive shaft is removed that round clip is no sweat when you have space

FWIW...
anyone removing the drive shaft should inspect & replace the guibo at the same time.
If you have a few miles on the clock... just replace.

Also, check the rear CV joint, it should be repacked. (use CV grease)
When repacking its a good idea to fill the flange on the front of the diff. with grease,
it helps keep the grease in the CV joint.

Yep, mine was cracked, 72k miles there's also a pink seal on the CV end that should be replaced, was only $5 at the dealer

Whew, major thread revival. I'll have to see if I can locate the photos. It's been a loooong time since I posted this, or since I've been around here. The addition of kids, a boat restoration project, one thing after another and I haven't focused on the car much. Shoot, it's embarrasing as hell, car only got 500 miles on it last year.....but it seems the low mileage versions are a bit of an appreciating or at least status quo investment. I'll look into the photos, redo what I can.
