cut wires on driver side? any idea?

So here's an interesting one. I was wrapping the trim on my Z4MC yesterday and when I pulled out the driver side air vent, and was hunting for a clip that fell off the trim, I noticed what looked like a few cut wires?

In other words I could see the exposed wire, it wasn't wrapped or anything. I think one was purple, but can't remember. I think the location of the wires is the "back" of the ODBD plug.

Everything on the car works just fine so I don't know what these would have been used for.

I would have expected wires that weren't needed to have been wrapped or terminated when the car was built? Anyone happen to know what these might be used for? I have no idea what the previous owner may have had installed.

Sounds like someone had an integrated vent data display installed previously and simply left the wires once removed.
