Shift knob HELP!

How do you remove the shift knob? I bought a ZHP shift knob! The DIY guide's pictures were removed!

Emphasis on DON'T PUNCH YOURSELF!
If your shift knob is on tight there is a tendency for people to get directly over the knob and pull, pull, pull until it comes off and you get smacked in the face. Try not to look directly at it while pulling.

I had to put the roof down and pull with all my might. Tough lil' buggers. Shaved down the shaft to fit and install my MoMo knob.

Hard to beat a day full of knob pulling and shaft shaving. Sorry, I just just can't hold back when these shift knob threads appear!

Place both hands on shift knob and use your knees to push up on your arms, this should get it to move. From there it is just strait up and off.

I think I'm going to pull my knob this weekend.
Wife's out of town, so this would be a good opportunity.
I really don't want her to see me doing it.

No - Seriously !!
This way I won't have to explain why I paid $125 for an F10 M5 knob.

Sorry, no pics. Wife and kid are out of town and took the camera I know how to use.
Phone takes crappy pics.
Anyhoo, got my knob off.
Tugged gently on my bag, I mean the boot, evenly all around.
The entire trim piece with the hazard and lock buttons came out.
What's that in there? Pretzels? Shmeesh. The previous owner ...
Pushed the boot ring gently out of the larger trim ring from the bottom and unplugged the connector.

On a whim, before getting a pillow and straddling 4th gear, while sitting in the driver's seat, gave the knob a wiggle and yank, and it came right off. I guess some are tighter than others.
Mine's old, an apparently kinda floppy.

Now comes the fun of swapping the boot ring to the other knob.

Well said! You're the man! Really.
How many of us wait for that special time so we won't get caught? Later to be followed up with "Yes dear, it's always looked like that".
