Planning on getting my entire ride wrapped. Any thoughts?

Hey guys,

I am planning to get my 2004 BMW z4 3.0i wrapped. What are the pros and cons of wrapping? What colours do you guys suggest?

Personally, I would like to go for this colour:

It's your car, chose the color/finish that makes YOU happy.

I'm still undecided if wrapping is still just a fad, or here to stay.

I have been thinking about that as well. Are there any cons to this? Does it affect the paintjob in any way?

I've heard that it doesn't affect the paint as long as it's OEM paint.

I understand it is my car and I should go for what I like. The reason I ask this question is because there may be colours I would not have thought of. For instance, I first wanted the M5 metallic blue, then I stumbled across blue chrome, and then I found this "Matte Metallic Blue" from restlyeit.ca.

There are other colours I would not have thought of, so maybe you guys have creative ideas of cool looking wraps. I'm trying to stick to a dark blue though, but other suggestions are welcome Thanks guys!

hahaha, I can tell that you just cant stop to mod your Z eh?

here are some pictures shows how it looks like when I peel off my brushed steel blue on my Z.
we washed my Z with autoglym and clay was done before vinyl wrap work.

the 3m 1080 won't damage your paint unless you have rust spots, large size of stone chips and aged paint works...it cost money to remove the vinyl too(removal is harder than install...), so, think twice before you are planning to get your car full wrap.

hood still shinning like boss

fender

finished look... havent get a chance to take more picture before my z went to sleep for winter

headlight will wrap in clear film to protect from stone chip
tail light will wrap in light smoke film
(after March )

You took off the brushed blue?! Why!

Hm, I've always assumed taking off the wrap would be easier. Peel and heat gun. I guess I'm wrong haha.

The reason why I want a wrap is because I would like a colour change without paying ridiculous amounts of money for a decent paint job.

I got a quote from some dudes in Brampton. $800 to wrap my car (minus the hood and roof). 3M 1080.

But first, I'm trying to get a hold of a z4M front bumper.

...........
I can attest to that.
I had the roof on my G35 wrapped.
It was an absolute PITA to remove & cleanup.

I swore then I would never do it again.

The other thing is if you get any damage, like bird droppings, you will have to live with it.
You can't buff things out like you can with paint.

hun... not that crazy tho... removing the vinyls just making my finger tips hurt.(and because I done the rewrap at the same time) 3m 1080 wont leave much stuff on paint when removing with heat gun.

cant make sure about the bird drops yet. birds used to love to dump on my Z!!! but it havnt happen again after I wrapped my car its really weird. LOL

So, is it possible to wash a wrapped car or are you limited to sunny weather driving and dusting? If washing is possible does the wrap get scratched and end up with swirls?

I was told not to run it through a pressured wash. And then advised to use a soap and sponge approach to washing it.

Which I don't mind because I never run my Z through an auto car wash. Not even the Touchless wash. I like washing the Z myself, and get into all the nooks and crannies.

P.S. my hood is wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl

I ended up just wrapping/tinting my headlights and tail lights, along with all the reflectors and even the side indicators. Will post up pics here...after I wash the car. Sigh. If the car was silver all this winter dirt would not be as visible. Though, I'm not a fan of silver cars :$
