2004 Z4 Sport Package - What's in it?

Would someone please advise exactly what the '04 Z4 sport package includes? For those of you who might have a Z4 without that package, do you regret it? Thanks.

I owned an '03 2.5i without the sport package, and made the mistake of not test-driving one with the SP before the purchase. Long story short, I traded it in for an '04 3.0 about a year later. The SP was what got me thinking about the swap in the first place, the bigger engine didn't hurt either.

The sport suspension isn't really a big deal IMO; it isn't that much of an upgrade anyway. You get a slightly lower ride height (about 0.6") from the shorter springs, and sport dampers and thicker sway bars. And for an '04 it won't be long before you need to change dampers so just plan on getting some Koni shocks and either OEM sport springs or Eibach springs. You get different wheels assuming the car still comes with stock wheels.

It's the sport button that really transcends the car and makes it a lot more fun to drive. The sharper throttle response and heavier steering make the car actually drive like a sports car. Without them, the car feels a little soft, and just, not as fun. IMO, the sport button is a must when buying the Z4.

I've got an '06 3.0 Si.

For just driving around town with the top down on a sunny day, or a pleasant drive on the highway, you will never miss the Sport button.

BUT! If every now and then you think you may want to really get an adrenaline rush and hear that big straight six's symphonious roar, then the Sport button is something to consider. I refer to it as the Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde button. With good reason!

I traded my '03 Z4 SMG with sport package for my '06 M Roadster but I recall sport package was the button, 18" wheels, and a higher speed limit.

I don't even use the buttom on my M.

The sport button in the M is a different story compared to the non-M though. I don't ever bother turning on the sport button in my Z4MC even after a certain mod which I'm not going to disclose.

Eh? Since the M doesn't have the funky steering rack, the only thing for the button to change is the throttle response right? (and the way it shifts if it has an auto/smg)

edit: and I thought all E85/E86 cars were limited to 155 mph from the factory

The M comes with manual transmission only. And yes the sport button only changes the throttle response. But in the M with the sport button on, the throttle is way too sensitive and makes the car hard to drive. Whereas in the non-M, with the sport button on the throttle response feels much better.

I could not disagree more.

A Z4 without the Sport button is a fine roadster in all respects, particularly so if it has a manual transmission. Add the Sport button and you have the icing on the cake.

The Aero Sideskirts?

I definitely like using the sports button when I am feeling a little racy. For most normal driving I do not use it. When you hit that button the response under 3K is substantially different. I would reccomend the sports package and M seats if they are available.

If you really want the Sport button on a car without the Sport Package just install a Sprint Booster or, better yet, one of the new PowerBoxes that the folks on E90post are raving about. Claims of power increase may be dubious, but it almost certainly provides even more throttle sensitivity adjustment than is available from the Sport button.

Yes, the sport suspension is lower, for 03-05 it's even lower then the M. But changing out the suspension isn't a big deal, and you get the added bonus of picking one that's not so bone jarring stiff.

My car has it, it's neat but I don't use the button much. The stiffer steering is nice, but it makes the throttle a little too twitchy for daily driving. Hmm...maybe I might use it more if I had LSD and turned the traction control down/off.
