Cut-outs update

There is a silicone o-ring that seals these in when closed, that ripped on both sides and got in the way of them closing fully. Obviously it started sounding like shit. Thankfully the exhaust shop took the car in, cut off the protruding o-ring pieces that were around the valves, and even fitted a custom gasket on the 2 pieces that are bolted together on this kit. Now, they fully close again, and sound almost stock when closed.

When open, at full throttle, it is pretty raspy. BUT, I found that they sound really good at partial throttle, tooling around town. Has that exotic "hollow" sound to it that is very hard to get. I use open them 50% of the time I'm driving around. The most fun is to blast them open and rev the engine up when you're under a bridge, or surrounded by buildings which reflect the sound (coming out sideways on each side)

Overall I'd say this mod was worth it. Still waiting to hear from AEM about replacing my meth kit's controller box. I'd like to get that fixed before I hit the dyno again.

at the dyno, I'll do 4 runs:

1. no meth, exhaust closed
2. no meth, exhaust valves open
3. meth flowing, exhaust closed
4. meth flowing, exhaust open

tom jaws motorsport have released an s54 kit using our blower ( the paxton version, its indentical, basically a v3si relabelled for the Vortech owned paxton), im following it on the B i M M e R B os t forum in the s54 section, take a quick look when you get chance, these guys are running 11.5psi on the BASE kit!!! 515rwhp on 98octane, they've pushed the stock motor up to 14.5psi and got 580rwhp!!!!!!! im so pleased to see these centri kits can make the power we want ;-) From what im seeing our kit isnt even tickling this motors belly, now ive got the main components on the car in place....

its time for more power.... fuck it!! Interestly..... they reckon catless for our setups yields very decent power gains, from the pm i got they reckon 15-20hp easily, not to mention lower EGTs.

i hope AEM sort you out... they really need to..... did you get the older kit or the newer style one with the recirc pump??

IIIIINTERESTING. Gonna look it up. I'm really gonna slow down on my mods for a while now though, but I'd love to be able to increase the boost without having to take the engine apart. 14.5psi sounds like a solid goal =) even if I can only get 93 octane. Maybe they'd be able to upgrade the ESS kit without much trouble if its running the same supercharger

I was offered to go catless by the guys who did my exhaust cutouts, but I'm worried about tuning being thrown off

not sure if I have the older kit...probably.

dude don't worry, I will keep this car for at least 10 more years. Its funny, people sometimes ask me what my next car is, and I can't think of anything except adding a second beater for hauling bigger things around

arhh tom yee have little faith..... forget the tuning, what im getting at is the level of power the thing made @ certain boost.... these centri kits are 12-15psi are making turbo power.

ess will happily sell is the pullies/tune and our hardware looks better than the jaws setup with our CAI, bpv setup.....

i think i need to take a leaf out of your book and chill out on the mods, money is tight and business is slow.....modding is like a drug, and im the junkie.... i need my fix but i need a bigger hit each time :-( im doomed!

ESS didn't seem to happy about a 550 upgrade here stateside, according to my shop.. Anyway, I'll probably wait a few years, and then go big with a standalone proefi + 15psi or something

So glad I invested in a BMW cover. fits so well, and even has a clear window for the license plate. I love how sexy the lines look when its wet. Hoping this tropical storm won't hurt it :/

yeah we had about 10" of rain. crazy. thankfully no flooding in my neighborhood. Car was fine, and thanks to my strap, the cover held on fine in the strong winds.

There was a tornado about 45 minutes away though.

Great build!

I can't imagine what this kind of power feels like in such a small car like the Z4M!

I'm excited to see your results. My friend just had his VT2-500 E46 M3 custom tuned by Evolve and he is very pleased with the results thus far.

It's nice to see you guys pushing this platform to the max!

Thanks! honestly, you get used to the power. Right now, the car feels kinda weak in the Floridian Summer and humidity, but I'll have my water/meth injection fixed soon as I finally ordered a new controller.

Evolve re-tuned your friend's ESS kit? Do you know if he uses the MAF sensor or the (AIT?) sensor? I'd like to bump up my power someday

It's all standard hardware from ESS, so I'm assuming just an IAT and AlphaN tune.

Evolve just used their own supercharger tune.

Here's one build thread of a guy who originally had the VT1-455 and made his own "VT2-500" : http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=419360

Here's my friends build:http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=403447

Both tuned by Evolve.

My friend, 'normcaldwell', put down an impressive 439whp and 304wtq after several runs on the dyno, 91 Octane, and in the incredibly thin air of Colorado. I've seen DynoJet SAE graphs of other VT2-500 independently dyno'd and put down aroun 400whp with the ESS Tune.

yeah I meant the alpha-n
I know ESS tunes are conservative for the superchargers, to ensure reliability. Good to know that there's someone who can "edit" their tunes. I'd really like to get 500rwhp on stock compression

Yeah, my friend found the Evolve tune to be a bit nicer to drive too, based off his review and what he told me. Either way, both ESS and Evolve make very solid tunes, probably the best and most reliable supercharger tunes hands down!

I have another friend with a VT2-550 on his E46 M3 put down around 485whp if I recall. He also has a full Supersprint Stepped Headers, SPipe, XPipe, and Race Muffler.

I think 500whp is definitely achievable with more boost, retune, and meth! It's all about having monster 500whp and having it consistently with meth
