Yes it's a very long shot, but better to keep positive. If it never happens we just wasted a few electrons on the internet, no biggie.
Agree 100%.

I'm not holding my breath we will ever get those kinds of numbers, but hey until you try you don't know. So please link this thread on every bmw or Z4 related forum you can find!

For more info, and especially the DFV technology, check their site. I would expect the kit to cost about $2800, which is between KW V3s and Club Sports in terms of price, with the advantage over KW that it would run linear springs all around (V3s are progressive front and rear, Clubsports are progressive rears) and have full warranty unlike Clubsports and Ohlins own racing shocks.

I had Ohlins on my S2000 and can tell you its miles ahead of KW coilover kits. I would never ever consider any KW kit over Ohlins, Aragosta, Top Secret, or Moton for the NSX or S2000.

This is awesome if you guys can get the people to commit to the kit.

Add me to the list. I'll probably need new suspension in the future.

Öhlins has released Road and Track coilovers for the e46!

Everyone on this interest list, please take the time to write Ohlins and let them know that you really want them to make a coilover kit for the e85/e86. Half the work is already done with the e46 coilover on the market.

If everyone writes I feel we definitely have a chance of making this happen. The USA distributor is the one that needs 250 sets of shocks for him to make the company initiate action. But the actual company in Sweden can decide to make it whenever they like. I figure if we get enough people contacting they can see the value, especially with the high visibility our cars get on the street and track.

Seriously, take the five minutes and write them an email

info@ohlins.se

EDIT: Feel free to spread to friends, other forums. Let's get a letter writing campaign going and make this happen!

I sent them and received this answer:

Sorry but we don’t have any Road and Track shocks for your Z4 at the moment, if you can wait a few month then distributor in your country can make shocks for your car from a new system we call Kit System.

That's interesting. Previously they would tell you that the only option was the Race dampers (which they tell you are not meant for street). Looks like they're going to build a platform for individual shocks/springs based more on the design of the R&T.

Thanks for writing! Come on guys, let's make this happen

problem is its not going to be a properly developed for our car setup.... if they were to build a proper bolt on from the factory tried and tested unit awesome.... but a kit form knocked up at the distributor isnt imo something we want or need..... Come on ohlins, your so close anyway you really may as well develop something properly.

My thinking too. That's not a solution...

Completely agree. But the only way we're going to make this happen is if everyone writes in. And so far I think only 2 of us have done it.

The main difference is not going to be the components (the components will be identical). The difference is that if they engineer a proper solution for us, they'll match the valving and springs perfectly to the results of putting a Z4M on a 7 post shaker rig.

Many thanks for your e-mail and your interest in our products.
We have not yet planned a R/T suspension kit for the BMW Z4M model but if we get enough requests from our customers we might consider this in the future.
I don't want to post the emails I found publically, so I'll be PMing people. Contact me if you don't hear from me and want to help with this effort.

Ok guys. So they might put us a kit together, don't have the details yet.

Do we have anyone near Hendersonville, NC that can be the guinea pig for measurement and test fitting?

Cool deal. I'm talking with the US representative now to see what they can put together for us. I'll see what they will require to undertake the different levels of testing, and hopefully we can find a balance to what we would like versus how many people can actually commit to buy.
