Nav Diagnosis - Freezing Screen
Recently my navigation screen has been having some trouble. Randomly (there is no action or time interval that this occurs) my screen will freeze, have some minor RGB pixilation at the very edges (also random) and remain that way for a few minutes before resetting. Restarting the car will fix the screen but docking the screen won’t (lowering it/putting it away). At first I thought it was due to heat but then the issues started becoming more frequent even in short drives. Steering controls still work, radio controls still work, I simply lose my display. Nothing else is affected by the locked up screen.
Originally I was playing my iPod (old gen 2/3 nano) and it was just playing continuously through a few thousand song list. Eventually it locked up while playing through that and I thought it was my whole stereo, turns out it was just the screen at that point. As I disconnected the iPod and took out the Nav CD things got worse, not sure if there is a direct correlation or not. Thanks for taking the time to read through this! oh and |

Thanks finnegan, I figure it's a problem many will not have experienced and it may just be the age of the screen and at that point it may be time to invest in a replacement. I believe that's something I could do myself and write a DIY but at the same time I'd rather save the money for more important things... like exhaust
