Just added this to the garage!
Couldn't bear to part with my M roadster. So I kept it, and then added this to the garage...
2006 911 C2 Coupe. 6sp. Xenon, Bose, 6 CD changer, Nav, Heated Seats, Auto dim mirrors, rear wiper, Power memory seats, sport wheel. |

Sweet. I love the 911's. Seriously considered one before buying the Z4. Just couldn't swing the extra cash layout.

996's were just barely in my budget when i was looking but the M Coupe i ended up buying was too good a bargain to ignore considering the weak state of the British pound at that moment plus the Z4 is faster, more powerful, rarer, better looking and has less cubic capacity (important for me for tax reasons here) but anyway i'd love to hear how a regular 997 compares with the Z4 M.

Nice! People wouldn't know we were in a depressed economy just by looking at this site, that is for sure!

I have only had the 997 for a couple of days. First impression...the clutch..more immediate...connected...stiffer pedal feel yet seems easier to drive. Power, right up there with the M. Specs are comparable for 0-60 times depending on what magazine you listen to. Maybe a tenth of a second or 2 better for the 997. Handling....steering is so freaking instant, you point it and it goes there....haven't had it on a good road yet to really push it. Ride..is a bit harder than the M, but the seats are much better than the M sport seats (the 997 has the power seat option). Much more comfortable and hold you in place better at the same time. The BOSE stereo sounds great, better than the Carver in the M. Navigation is nice and the interior, I hate to say it, it a class above my M. All of that said, the M is a special car and I plan to keep it a long time. I am still getting used to the engine hanging off the back of the car. Maybe it is me, or maybe I can feel it there as opposed to in the front. Not sure yet. Overall I love this car. And I love my M. Best of both worlds. Last edited by 155MPH; 07-27-2009 at 02:44 PM.. Do you feel the premium over a Z4 M is justified?

I know it's a great car but i dont just like Z4's i love cars in general so it's good to hear from people who actually own some of the more interesting ones and also the 911 is one of my all time favourite cars and something i'd love to drive someday.
As for 0-60 times between them i think all that weight over the rear wheels gives the 911 a bit of an advantage plus i think the M could use slightly more traction at the abck although that could just be the "slippery" tarmac over in my parts that's making me think that..
