Commencing to service my new to me Z4 how do I remove the engine covers ?

The engine cover nuts are under a small cover camouflaged like the cover.

Do you see the small round cover on the engine cover, just to the right of the BMW logo? There are two of them.

Use a small screwdriver to pry them off. Be careful, they sorta POP out and you can loose them.
