HELP!! clutch almost gone.. in less than 49,900mile
Got my car last May of last year and it was a CPO with 46,0000 miles.. then I felt that the clutch was little heavy while driving it in a Big City Traffic.. i ask my local dealer to check on it and they said that the clutch is almost gone.. And it was not cover by the warranty. I just wanna know if this is the truth.. Is clutch wear not covered by the warranty?

I thought it was covered by the maintenance plan, not the warranty. The clutch in my gf's Mini went at 28,000 miles because it's her first manual and she destroyed it The Mini dealer replaced it free of charge, no questions. BMW should do the same unless your maintenance plan has expired.

^ $3000 is crazy.
I mean most clutch installs here cost around $300-600 for the labour - and a good clutch is usually less than $500. Should go aftermarket for the clutch if they are available will probably be much cheaper compared to OEM

Wait more importantly is the clutch even gone? Does it slip?
Drive in a straight line in 5th at a low rpm like 2000rpm and floor it. Does the tacho jump up without picking up any speed? Thats probably the easiest clutch test.

its still runs good and well.. its just not soft and low.. kinda high clutch only but not gone..
T_J_factor: so if the tacho jumps without picking up speed is that means the clutch is good or bad? |

If the car just accelerates slowly and all is normal it means your clutch is still holding on just fine.

Right, since it's under 50k miles and less than 4 years then it's still within its new car maintenance/warranty. Because whoever you talked to didn't know that I'd either go to a different dealer or ask to talk to the owner. Never hurts to go straight to the top You can get the owners name from the dealers website. Or call BMW NA, they can tell you and the dealer if it's covered.
