Remus exhaust for z4m - Update @ 90 days
Update - see post from 17 Jan 2010 for sound clips etc.
============== I had the Remus exhaust system installed on my Z4M today by Checkpoint Automotive in Los Angeles. I'll post a real recording of it shortly. Here are some subjective first impressions: - Idle volume about 5% louder than stock, more mid/bass tone rumble. - throttle blip is about 15-20% louder than stock, more bass rumble, no rasp. - 1/3 to 1/2 throttle is about 20-25% over stock volume, No rasp. - Overall tone is about 20% less treble and 20% more bass than stock. no rasp. - Overall sound is definitely "sportier" without being a great deal louder than stock. On the road you can still have a conversation or listen to the speakerphone without shouting over the exhaust note. It's definitely sporty without being overwhelming. Those are my day 1 subjective impressions. Some initial camera-phone pics: Attachment 318255 Attachment 318256 Attachment 318257 Attachment 318258 Regards, RC. That's a clean looking install. I've been on the fence as far as new cans for my M Roadster but had been leaning toward Remus as my brother has Remus on his '99 Mcoupe and it sounds nice.
How do the tips line up versus stock? Are they larger, the same size? That kind of thing. |

Those are pretty excellent setups. You can't go wrong with Remus... deeper but conservative.
In case you haven't checked this thread out yet... http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286110 It's got a good comparo of Remus to stock. |

My Remus doesn't really burble during downshifts. If it does, then it's barely noticible, especially comparing to my old ACS cat-back on my '04 3.0i, or the Eisenmann Sport on my Z4MR.
I love my Remus set-up though. Sounds very OEM, just deeper and more sporty. Absolutey no drone. I HATE drones.

Two weeks with the Remus exhaust, its starting to break in and the sound has gotten a bit deeper and a bit louder, especially when warm. I'm extremely happy with it. Trying to get some HQ recordings of it, but it's proving to be a challenge.

I was all set for my Remus to arrive but BAV had it on super backorder so I cancelled. I wasn't comfortable with them sitting on my money for that period of time. Had they not charged my card until they shipped I wouldn't have minded the wait.
Anyone else know a Remus dealer that may have inventory? |

Same situation with back order
I am facing the same situation. I was a bit miffed when I saw they had already charged my credit card with the expected shipping "1 to 2 weeks". It was especially galling when they called the day of the order to "verify" the shipping address and didn't mentioned the exhaust was back ordered. Nevertheless, I'm not canceling my order at this point, but I was not impressed.

It's a simple bolt on install. I would normally install it myself, and not think twice. It was bloody cold, however, when it arrived and I decided to treat myself and have Bucky's Muffler shop install. As luck would have it, I had a "muffler jockey" who was building a track BMW, was very cool and very together. This turned out to be a good thing as one of the muffler,s was poorly jigged at the factory and it was a near thing requiring bending, pushing and two of us struggling to get the darn thing on.
I assume this was the exception rather than what one can normally expect. |

Remus Update @ 90 days with sound clips & pics
Well it's been nearly 3 months with the Remus and I'm really pleased with the exhaust note and the looks.
I a sound clip of the 'broken-in' tone posted HERE. The sound clip includes: [1] stationary [2] top down, from a stop and [3] in a deserted parking garage. Please ignore the washer-type sounds in the audio, I was using a digital voice recorder and it's a limitation of the device. Here are a few recent photos: Attachment 342046 Attachment 342047 Attachment 342048 Last edited by blender; 11-21-2012 at 10:33 PM.. |

DO these actually make any power difference?
They are one of the only exhaust cans "claiming" a gain, Like to hear from owners

GP20/rcleme05 did you feel any power gain from this Remus exhaust?
trying to decide between this and the BMS exhaust, but looking for one that will at least knock up a few BHP to compliment the ESS tune,

Yes I have to admit this is one of if not the nicest looking exhaust for the M's
and I wanted something with no drone, Seems these might be the way to go,

Also do you have any pictures from a little lower down?
I would like to see how the straight on rear shot looks, but from a lower angle,
