Buying Z4 Again

Hi All,
I am back in market to buy Z4 again . I am looking between 2006 to 2008 3.0SI Model with Entended Leather, M-Sport Seats, Paddle Shifters. I see this car has it all but it has 96k on it. I am not sure to buy this car with those number of miles on it? What you guys think. I am open for suggestions.

I didn't think the 3.0si's, or any non-M for that matter had extended leather. 96k is a lot of miles imo, what's your budget? For 15k or less, I honestly would rather go pre-facelift m54 which has more modding options. And if the pre-facelift bumper throws you off, then slap on an Aero front.

Also what's your criteria? I've seen your other posts where you've looked at e46, e90, e60, ranging from from x to xi, convertible to coupe to sedan.

I own a 2008 3.0si with saddle brown seats and extended leather. The interesting thing is that the roll over hoops are not leather covered.

Only the M models with extended leather have the rollover hoops covered.

Wow. The car is really cheap compare to Canada market! Get some third party to pre-inspect it and take a run to feel it, you may be lucky to get a nice car with low cost

I think I rcently saw a similarly equipped Z4 3.0si with about half the mileage (50,000-ish miles) for around $19,000. I don't recall if it was on the Classifieds here, or on eBay. At half the mileage and still within your budget, I'd hunt for a car like that first.

Good luck!

Is there a difference? I think there is either extended leather, or not. It isn't like a Boxster where you can get each individual part covered in hide. All Z4's have a leather center on the doors. Extended leather runs around the windshield, has leather sun visors and full leather door cards.

I am looking for car with the entire door covered with leather, see pics. In first pic door has only center leather and in second pic the entire door is covered with leather. And i hate those hard rubbry plastic doors

from what I understand top one is standard leather and bottom is extended. Didnt know there was a third option (at least for M's thats how it is)

I know for a fact 2006 3.0si cars came with extended leather as an option, it's just not as extensive as the M cars, i.e., rollover hoops, visors, etc.

I really like those seats. They are M style seats but definitely not the seats you would find in an M.

The 'M' seats in a non-M car are the same shape and size, have the same bolsters, adjustments, etc. The seats in the M cars are Napa leather (smoother finish, though some say not as durable), have different stitching, and have the same leather finish carried over to the hidden base side seat panel (that faces in to the console) vs. a rawhide/suede like panel on the 'M' seats in the non-M cars. On non-M cars, the 'red' seat color was 'Dream Red', and the M cars were 'Imola Red'. The dream red is a little brighter shade.

As for whether that car has extended leather, it's hard to tell from the pictures - you should have the dealer send you some detail photos of that.

I looked high and low for a ext leather 3.0si space grey with red inside. Ended up with Alpine White with Beige interior, no ext. leather. I guess I can't say I miss them since I never had them, but I have the mesh rear window diffuser that has vinyl that covers the roll hoops. I guess all I'm missing is the all leather doors, but meh.

It might make your search easier.

As a 3.0si owner here's my abnormal problems, all of which were covered under my CPO thank goodness: radiator fan ($450 repair), foggy dimming rear view mirrors, and the mechtronic tranny sleeve.

very good info. Matter of fact I just replaced my black M seats with red M seats and the Imola is the perfect shade of red. Anything brighter might be too red IMHO.

Way too many miles. You can get a 3.0 si coupe for $20-21k with under 65k miles. Take your time with your search cause there are good deals out there.

Wow, someone's done their homework on M's vs 3.0si. Awesome, thanks!

It says in the description the car has extended leather and the photos actually prove it(you can see the stitching):
