Only difference between 2007 and 2008 are dealer available options.
Satelite radio (not sure if it was XM or Sirius) was an option on the 2008s, so it's doable if you don't find one that has it already. Can't speak for the ipod kits. The DICE and Intravee, seem to be the most popular.

Then go for the great deal on the 2007. The differences between 2007 and 2008 are minuscule. Enjoy your coupe.

Like others said no body changes but dealer options. Space Grey instead of Silver Grey for 2008. If you like the 2007 model then go for it.
Cheers. |

I was also told by the dealer that the yellow pre-redline light goes all the way away instead of the last one always remaining from 7500 to 8000 rpm. Can anyone confirm this?

there are actually a few subtle changes (i've owned both) the rearview mirror is different, thus you get better reception from the remote. also the doors close a bit heavier, feels like the quality was upped ever so slightly. same with the hatch. thats all i can think of for now, but i know there are a few more slight differences along the lines of the ones i mentioned

I think you're broadening the scope here - the OP was asking about the differences between the 07 and 08 only, and I think all of those changes have been covered. Mid-2007 MY BMW switched from the oval mirror to a trapezoidal that supposedly improves reception for the key (reports are mixed). The color Silver Gray was dropped for Space Gray. The option for HD radio was added. Changes to mileage ratings mean the gas guzzler tax was dropped for 2008, but that's not an issue on a car that's been punched. Not much more than that.

Going from a 335i to a MZ4 Coupe will be quite a big difference. I don't know how you feel about the 335i, but dynamically, aesthetically, and practically it will be a night and day switch.
The MZ4 Coupe has a significantly shorter wheel base, and you're practically sitting on top of the rear axle on one of BMW's longest engine bays. Trunk is significantly smaller, while the power delivery on the 335i is of typical consumer type engine with flat torque and a ton of it down low, the S54 in the MZ4 doesn't start really delivering that kick in the pants feeling until about 4,000 RPM...You have to wind it up and drive it like you stole it all the time for it to FEEL like it's got the grunt of the twin turdbo. The outward visibility is virtually non-existent in the rear. Unless you get used to using your mirrors all the time, be prepared to bump into stuff as you back up. The forward visibility feels like you're looking out of a sliver and with the elongated hood you're going to wish this car has a front parking sensor. Ride is stiffer with a much stiffer chassis resulting in a lot more squeaks and rattles when you go over bumps. What I am saying, is if you're used to driving the 335i, make sure you have had a chance to drive the MZ4 Coupe for more than a 30 minute test drive before you switch. Frankly, the M4oop is in an entirely different league than the E9X chassis and not exactly something I'd be shopping for as a replacement for a 335i. Believe me, I have my M4oop and a E92 328i at home. The M4oop feels down-right spartan compared to the 328i. It feels more comfortable at the track than it does on surface streets, and my carpool buddy complains about the ride every day (tough, it's either that or ride in the air-condition-less 318is in 100 degree weather). Not trying to dissuade you, but playing devil's advocate here. I'd hate to see someone spend $$$ to pick up a M4oop only to trade it in 2 month later thinking they got something they didn't bargain for. |

What Hack says is true, we have both my MZ4 and my wife's 335i and although I enjoy driving both (as does she), they have totally different driving dynamics.

Very good review Hack. I would also add the following (Note: My daily driver is a an 06 750Li)
1. Any trips over a couple of hours are rough. The car is really stiff and the seats are narrow. On LA highways, my teeth have actually chattered. 2. You will notice a change in your personality when you drive the MC. When I drive my 750, with my suit and tie, I'm that guy with the salt and pepper hair who you see cruising along thinking about his stock portfolio. When I'm in the MC, I'm 18 again, DRIVING LIKE I STOLE IT! (Thanks Hack). If there was a support group for guys who have a hard time controlling themselves in their MC, I would be member #1. "Hi, my name is MTHEORY, and I enjoy abusing Miatas" 3. If you drive it the way you are supposed to, your girlfriend will be in awe of you, wife will refuse to ride in it ever again. I've driven numerous sports cars and the MC is the most fun I have ever had in a car except for one other car, The Porsche GT2 (which is my next buy) |

My impressions are likewise to The Hack and MTHEORY. The S54B32 really only starts to work after 4,000rpm. If you like the way the 335 drives you are in for a rude shock with the Z4-MC. I have been in my friends 335 and you can get away with being sloppy and lazy when driving it hard. It's more of an old man's ride with how the motor feels and how it delivers it's power curve.
The Z4-M is an all throttle proposition and behaves just like a typical hot naturally aspirated engine with it's power delivery. You use slam tactics to make it dance. Everyone will know if you can't drive properly with this animal if you have not learned to master it's character. It's like a wild stallion who will show you utter contempt if your skill is anything less than expert. It won't cover up your shortcomings as a driver, it will scream them to the world on CNN. As for the ride comfort, think of a rocket powered skateboard.

Even though they go beyond the original question that was asked, I really like the above 4 posts (starting with Mr. H) and I think the OP should take heed to this sage advice on how different these cars are. I just want to add that, after 24 years of riding with me in all kinds of fast cars, including routine trips at 120+MPH on the autobahn when we lived in Germany back in the 1980's, the only time the wife has been carsick was when riding in the M coupe. It drives about like my Austin Healey 3000 did, with triple the horsepower.
