Help Identify

So I was working on my project car on my day off and finally got it to start and drive. But when in motion, I can hear a clunking noise coming from close to under the ebrake. I jacked up the car and found this pieces, can someone help identify it? Could it be part of the differential system? It looks like alum. cast iron too and broken off.

That looks like an e-brake shoe, or what's left of one anyway.

I thought that too but then is the ebrake shoe located under car? I'm thinking it could be the center draftshaft mount? Is the center drive shaft mount located directly under the arm rest /ebrake lever? This could be why there is a clunking when in motion as well? too darn cold here in the artic tundra to be working on cars.

The scale isn't too clear. Is it a drive shaft balance weight?

Where did you find it exactly? Was it already on the ground or did you pull it out from somewhere underneath the car?

The center bearing mount is right around the e-brake handle area. You would have had a fairly violent failure if that somehow ripped off and it should be clunking very loudly when applying and removing engine torque. I could see that being the once straight piece that attaches the mount to the chassis, but that would mean it separated from the mounting tabs. Unusual to say the least.

I found it underneath the car laying on top of the heat shield. It does clunk violently too.

Definitely sounds like you're going to want to remove the heat shield and take a look at the drive shaft.

Could be the top half of the shell off the drive shaft center mount.
