Strange Noise / Sound
OK - Diagnosis needed...
This week I started hearing a high pitch sound coming from the rear of the car. It sounds like it is near the rear wheels or diff or at least very low in the hatch. It is an on-and-off again high pitch sound that squeaks for a split second and then disappears, only to come back again randomly. It happens in neutral or in gear, doesn't seem to matter. Doesn't sound plastic-ky enough to be the hatch itself. It started early this week only at slow speeds, but now I am hearing it just about all the time. It sounds like one of those rotating air vents on apartment rooftops that needs some WD-40. Have a 300 mile drive ahead of me tomorrow and am getting nervous.... |

and I quote:
"VERIFIED CUNSTOMERS CONCERN, SQUEKING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND OVER BUMPS. NOISE GET BETTER WHILE APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKES (wtf). ADJUSTED THE PARKING BRAKES NOISE GOT BETTER BUT STILL THERE. LUBRICATED ALL THE RUBBER BUSHINGS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO FULLY GET RID OF THE SQUEAKING NOISE" |

Bringing this back from the dead for a reason
FYI - Have the same problem again (squeaking from the rear w/ an occasional "popping" sound now). Dealer says that they are replacing the rear sway bar brackets. Called me at the end of the day and couldn't tell me exactly what is wrong w/ the brackets.
really glad they fixed it the first time |
