Vote NOW! Dec 2012 Picture of the Month
Sad to say almost after 2 years, this is the last month I'll be hosting this. Other members are more than welcome to pick up the process but given some upcoming big events, I just won't have time to focus on this. If someone does want to manage the process going forward, please PM me and I'll change my contact info to yours in the sticky.
With that said, here's the FINAL 2012 POTM Submission! 1. Rated M Roadster 2. Loogey Clapp 3. gtMc |

Its massive! Its one of a few big barrel's still remaining on the property at Renault Winery in NJ. Not sure how large it is, but thats why I took it w the car, to capture its size. It must hold 1000 gallons, maybe more? Which would also make that hole quite possibly one of the largest bunghole's on earth (sorry couldnt resist )

DSC_OFF has down an awesome job of hosting the POTMs and hats off to him for sure. I am sure it has been a time consuming task and I understand his need to move on. I hope that someone will step up and continue this tradition.

It is curious, how big it must be...
I looked up the Ford Excursion cargo capacity which sits right at 146 cubic feet. Conversion to gallons make it 1095 gal. It appears that barrel is substantially larger than the back of an Excursion. Depth is a bit a hard to gauge here, but I'm guessing this thing is closer to 10-20k gallons.

Okay, I'm taking on the POTM duties for the foreseeable future. Essentially the same rules, except the email address will change to zpostpotm at gmail. Subject must be POTM or it will not be recognized--I'm setting up filters to automate the process and eliminate any spam.
(DSC_OFF set up a really good process, so aside from the email address change, all things will remain the same.) With this POTM email, we can exchange duties if needed in the future (it's not my personal email, it's a separate account). I plan on doing this for awhile, but should my life get nuts or something, the separate account would make any future transitions easy (basically it means just handing off the "keys"). I want to encourage folks to participate going into to 2013. I know it's hard to get that perfect shot, but most of you have cameras that will provide enough resolution (picture size 800x600, JPG) to get a good shot in now and then! So snap away! |

Finn nice job stepping up, and for making it easy to hand off the keys in the future. Dan, well done, retire in style!
