I need some help....
i am planning on trading in my current Z4, for an MZ4 in January.
none of my local dealers have and M roadsters... but tons of coupes. i'm starting to worry that i am going to miss out on a deal and the chance to own an M... my back up plan is a Boxster S... but i really don't want to go there. a dealer in PA has pretty much what i want: a 2006 Silver Gray Metallic M, with 4,480 miles for$46,988. that is the deal i am hoping to find in january. here are my question: 1. are those kind of prices/deals pretty firm? 2. can i have my local dealer get that car from the dealer in PA? and will that price still hold? 3. if i were to just say screw it and order a new one exactly how i want it configure in january, do any insentive carry over? or because it isn't overstock it is what it is. 4. are they meking the M in 08'? 5. the 'build your BMW' price was about 56K.... what should i hope to pay when i negotiate? 6. basically... what do i need to know if i buy a leftover M, and what do i need to know if i buy a new 08? sorry for all the questions, any help would be appreciated. |

1. You should definately work the price...you should get at least 10k off MSRP and a further discount cuz it has almost 5000 miles on it. 2. They may be able to get it from the PA dealer, but you'd most likely have to pay to get the car shipped. Or you could always fly out there and drive it back... 3. If you want to order a new one you're gonna pay MSRP for it, unless you're local dealer has some local financing deals for new cars. 4. If you order the car it's gonna be an 08, since 07 production has been over for a while. The 08's will probably be the last of the E85/86 Ms. 5. Like I said earlier, expect to pay MSRP for a build it yourself car, unless your local dealer has some specials on new cars. Dealers usually don't budge on the custom ordered cars cuz it could be difficult for them to sell if something happens to your financing and the deal goes through. 6. There are still quite a few 06/07 M's that haven't been purchased and BMW is giving dealers 7500 just to sell them. So basically anything the dealer sells it for, over 7500 off of INVOICE is a profit. Here's my question...why don't you just get a coupe? The roadie is nice when the weather is great, but aside from that, the coupe wins in the looks department, hands down. Hope this helps.

you can find a much better deal if you shop and make a move on an 07...
but don't wait.... and if you want a roadster..don't settle.... i perosnally think the roadster looks better than the coupe.... |

i love the look of the coupe... but i've never owned anything but a ragtop.
nothing feels better than having the top down on a beautiful sunny day. so... if i were to buy the car in PA today.. and it is listed for 47K... i should be shooting for $39,500? ... $7500 off? is that right? and how do i find the dealer invoice price? thanks, ac |

No, since it is used (I hope with ~4.5K miles on it and an '06) you would not get the inscentives.
They would sell a new roadster for >10K off invoice so price the one they are selling, make your statement and hope for the best, they might have paid more for it in trade in and be less willing to negotiate than on a new car where they get a 7.5K inscentive. FYI, there is a 2007 Imola Red M Roadster (sticker 57,200 I think) on the European Motorcars lot in West Des Moines, IA. I am sure they would not mind getting a call about it. You can call the guy that sold me my car if you'd like. (515) 334-8300 and you can ask for Tyler Conklin. My name is Conrad.

good point on the 'used' car... i would be looking for a new leftover 07.
so, if were to buy the one you mentioned, stickered at 57,200.. i should hope to pay between 47,200 - 49,700? i feel like a dumb ass... all this is dizzying to me. as for red.... i could live with it... it reminds me of the red on my old TTR.. beautiful color... but i really want something i haven't had before....either gray, metallic black or sepang thanks! |

First, let me assure you that you will not miss out on an M if you want one. Don't believe all the "end-production" hype (not that it's not happening, just that the general car buying public does not give a crap). The Z M's, (mainly the Coupes) are not very popular cars, that's why they are drastically discounting them at this very moment.
Here's my advice: Do not buy new, unless you can get at least 10K off sticker + add ons like car cover, lowjack, floor mats, etc. Buy used. Go to ebay or Autotrader and search for your car. I have purchased my 750Li, my wife's Z4 2.5, and my son's 325i on ebay, and the deals I got are jaw dropping. I'ts not that hard to buy online, get a great deal, and not get screwed. |

I have to disagree with MTHEORY on this one.
Here is what I would do / Have done - There are bewtween 160-180 2007 NEW M coupes on lots around the US depending on who you ask. My formula for dealing with the incentive on the M Coupe is this - 1. Compile the invoice/wholesale price of the M you are looking at via the "Detailed Pricing Sheet" (see attached) 2. Take this amount and subtract the $7,500 incentive. 3. Make this your starting offer for the price of the car. If you are leasing ensure you are getting the buy rate of .00275 and the correct residual. 4. Offer to pay MACO and 100.00 DOC FEE. (Training fee was already added into the invoice price of the car which is profit as well the way I understand it). I've found that 95% of dealers are offering to take this deal on these cars without batting any eye. * The car I was looking at stickered at $57,500 - I made an offer of $45,450 and they said "when can you take delivery?"

^^^ I agree with this guy. I would buy new since you are going to get about the same price for both new and slightly used M Coupes. I think if you haggle enough you can get the dealer here below 47,000 for the M Coupe personally. It is starting to get freezing temperatures here and I don't see a Z4MC selling at the beginning of winter very well.
Good luck!

Yeah, I meant roadster
You might not be able to find a perfect 07 Roadster, but it is good savings if you do find one you like enough

Power seats, BMW assist and Bluetooth are all part of the premium package. Subtract that too. Unless you want to pay for it twice...

hey all,
I am assuming that we are all talking about 07's when you talk about this detailed price sheet? I would love to get the $7500 incentive off a new 08, but dont htink it is possible. I did however order an 08 back in June, I am in Iraq currently and chancged my order when the dealer sent me my confirmation sheet after the 08 prices were confirmed. Like Dammmittt, I am getting mine in Germany. It is not as sweet of a deal as I think it used to be, but I am still happy with it. Here is what I will receive on or about 15 March, which is when I will be taking my R&R. Your automobile is configured as follows: Make: BMW Model: Z4 M Coupe Exterior Color: Monaco Blue Interior Color: Sepang Bronze Light Trans: 6-speed Options Include: 494 heated front seats 4MY Carbon Leather Trim 609 nav system (no DVD) ZPP Premium Package Est. Delivery Date: March 15, 2008 Total Cost: 50155.00 Down Payment: 5120.00 Down Payment Method: Pers. Check Lien Holder: No Lienholder Loan Amount: 45035.00 |
