Headlight Issue - Brights Always On?

Hi everyone,

Had a bit of a headlight problem develop over the last few days on my '04 Z4. The car is equipped with the OEM xenons (factory install, not retrofit).

Yesterday, I had the standard beams on and noticed an occasional "strobe light" type of action, as the car was cycling to the high beams without me touching it. Later in the evening, turned on my lights and they appear to be stuck with the high beams permanently on, without the stalk moved forward. Moving the stalk does not change high or low.

I'm leaning towards a faulty stalk since the lights turn on from the switch, lights successfully ignite, both projected in low beam (when they were not stuck), and both are projecting in high beams currently.

Anyone have this issue before? How did you resolve it?

Issue resolved!

Turns out the wiring harness from the switch to the headlight came loose, and was being rubbed between the fender and fender liner. The friction wore through the wiring loom and shielding on the wires, and the exposed wires touching created the intermittent brights issue. 2 hours of shop time along with 5 replaced wires and I am back in business!

Headlight troubles could be caused due to a number of reasons and you need to know it properly. It could be a fault of your battery and charging system.
For the best assistance on this, look for the symptoms you are viewing in the user manual of your vehicle. And if you do not contain the user manual for your vehicle, you could contact manuals.co and get a copy of the desired user manual absolutely free of cost.
