Gauge Pod Install Questions

I received my 3D Design gauge pod and Speedhut gauges, but it appears they aren't compatible without modification. The gauge is meant to be installed with a backing that fits over the threaded body, whereas the pod secures the gauges with screws that are supposed to be protruding from the back of the gauge (too short on my AEM gauge, and none on my Speedhut gauges). Any ideas? I don't want to glue them in there.

1. Will removing the crosspiece on the pod allow your Speedhut gauges to secure properly with the threaded collar? Is your gauge fully seated in the bottom pic? How much room do you have between pod and thread? (Sleeve?) Thread OD and pod ID? Maybe glue an adapter plate containing screws or threaded block to the back of the gauge?

2. Depending on the screw spacing on the AEM gauge you may need to make an adaptor plate to attached to the gauge and the pod to the plate. Or if the screws/holes align, it should be easy to make screw extensions.

Thanks for the response!

1. No.

2. I don't have experience with screw extensions. I'll see what I can find on google.

The other option is drilling into the gauge itself, but I'm hesitant since I'm unable to take it apart and see what I'm drilling into.

Hot glue, fill the area between the gauge and the panel in 4 spots. You can still easily remove the gauges if need be.

I bought some screw extenders for the AEM gauge, and M5 bolt-holding brackets that I will affix to the back of the other Speedhut gauges. I considered a coupling that extended the exterior threads, but the diameter would have been too large to fit in the pod.

Post your pics and thoughts when finished.

Spacer and velcro. You will need to pull them out from time to time.

Or get compatible gauges.
