Z4 ATF Fluid Alternative
Man I've spent the past several hours hunting for more info on the ZF thransmission that lives in our Z4s.
NOT M models (you're manual transmissions) NOT SMG models some Euro models some X3 models (since we share same drivetrain) 6HP19 is the ZF transmission we have to meet Shell 1375.4 oil specs, not just Dex/Merc formulas. Our tranny holds just under 9qts. For more information on Vehicle cross reference look here: http://www01apps.zf.com/kst464/ZF_In...011_en0700.pdf BMW Part Number 83 22 0 142 516 1 liter botle = $23.95 @ quart or 5 gallon bucket for $509 ZF Lubeguard 6 part number S671 090 255 01 $18 @ qt Castrol MultiImport ATF Meets Shell 1375.4 specs $5.74 @ qt http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...s_ImportMV.pdf In the ZF document you can search other part numbers. I searched VW and it was a bit more than BMWs (works for Porche and Bently too). I'm going to change to Castrol this weekend and see how it works. |

I should note Redline's ATF meets the Shell spec
Redline part number 30505 $41.95 @ gallon I have no experience with Redline products, but their spec sheet says it's Shell 1374. I also found ths thread, which was interesting, but remember the 335 in the thread is NOT the same tranny as us. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1332371 Lastly, here's the BMW TIS fluid sheet for the ZF 6HP19... |
