17X8 40mm on Z4MC?

I have a set of rims I'd like to use for snows this winter. Question is, would I need to use spacers for the rears? These wheels are 17X8 40mm offset - compared to stock rims which are 18X8 42mm fronts and 18X9 30mm rears. According to 1010tires.com offset calculator the rear outer edge would 'RETRACT by 23mm', which sounds like a lot. Will I have clearance issues?

TIA

It is A lot but you wont have clearance issues on the strut side, the wheel will just be sunken way the hell into the fender.

Great thanks. I'll give it a test fitting before mounting the tires. I'd rather not use spacers if possible.
