Rattle When Closing Door

Never noticed this on my other Z’s but my 06 M coupe driver side door has begun to rattle whenever I close it. At first I thought it was perhaps the race seats making contact but even after adjusting the seat install (now zero contact), it still makes a rattling noise. I was going to pull the door card off but I realized it might actually be related to the window, which in that case would require me to pull back the foam membrane. Before I start going down this rabbit hole has anyone else dealt with this issue?

Describe the rattle. If it sounds like plastic, it might be one of the plastic attachment point plugs for the door card that has either come loose or broken.

Mine does that too... (2004)

Both doors have a rattle when closing, but not sure I want to go through the effort of trying to fix it when so many other things could break taking it apart.

Are you closing the door with the glass up or down? My coupe rattles if the window is down but is OK if the window is up. Keeping the glass from rattling on frameless doors is extremely tough and gets more difficult as the car ages. I've given up on keeping my 99 Miata glass rattle free and just make sure it doesn't leak.

My first guess would be that either one of the seals that is supposed to keep pressure on the glass is loosening up due to age. First I would just try putting some seal dressing (I use Nextzett on my cars) on all the seals before you start going down the rabbit hole of replacing seals. After that start looking for gaps between the seal and the glass and try and apply pressure in that area by hand or with some painters tape to see if stabilizing the glass there solves the rattle.

Could it also be possible that some of the fasteners for the various window and lock mechanisms in the door itself may need to be tightened up?

At very min I plan to check for this. I hate dealing with butyl so hoping this solves it.
