SOUND CHECK: AFE Intake, SuperSprint Stepped V2 Headers/X-Pipe/Race Cans

Recorded a little video today just to see how my car sounds from outside.
Another buddy of mine also appears in the video with his e46 M3 with SS Race Headers (not stepped) and Eisenmann Sport Muffler.

ENJOY!

I love the SS Stepped Headers! I've had them for a while in my M3 and I decided to put it in my Moupe. You can definitely feel the car pulling from mid-high rpm, and unlike the M3, our section 1 pipe is fully resonated. Therefore I don't need to worry about the excessive rasp!

That e30 truck is epic! I drove it once and I had a cop car follow me for 5min since it has a truck license plate.

Neither car sounds good, but you probably know my opinion regarding the sound of BMW inline 6s from some of my other posts lol. On a positive note, your Z4M sounds way better than the M3. The M3 is just really bad, rattle rattle rasp.

The picture is awesome though, and your car is otherwise gorgeous.

Really? You don't like SuperSprint? I think SuperSprint sounds closest to F1 up in the RPM range, out of anything out on the market for the Z4M. The rasp (quite unfortunately) is from headers and possibly x-pipe that Charles has on his car.

Which exhaust do you like best for the Z4M?

Can't beat the quality, sound, and power of a full Supersprint setup. You definitely did it right and the car definitely sounds amazing. Keep up the good work!

out of curiosity does anyone know if this setup is louder than having just an RPi exhaust?

i cant imagine doing anymore exhaust work while having the RPi setup...

What's RPI's dB level?

When I did just SS race mufflers, I was still under 92dB Laguna Seca sound limit. But when I added JVT headers, it went up to 96dB @ WOT highest recording via track monitor (sound check hut) at Laguna. I just purchased an SS uncatted section1, which I'm expecting at least 2dB extra from lol.
I also plan to get SS section2 (x-pipe) which I'm expecting 2-3dB.

I have no idea what the dB levels are but I managed to find this.

It's difficult to to tell what that's going to show up as, since it depends on how far away from the tailpipes you are when determining dB level.
