Happy New Year.. Kinda… :(

First off, a happy new years to all.

Secondly, if i catch the person who scratched my car.. boy you are going to be in some trouble…

Went to a very fine dinning hotel last night, to have dinner at one of Dubai's top 5 restaurants.. thought, hey that will be a nice outing for the coupe..

drove in front of the hotel, got out, missus gets let out by the vallet, and then walks over to me.. "Oh.. its not automatic!" .. I get out and ask if he's going to be OK with it? "he wiggles his head.. (if you lived anywhere near here, you kninda know what i am talking bout) and says OK OK OK.." so i get out and walk into the hotel with my misses… as i walk through the front door, i hear my car stall and restart about 3 times and i just shake my head, misses smiles and says "Told ya so.."

so we have dinner , and an awesome night, (alcohol free for me and then go to go home, walk out the front, hand the vallet guy my ticket for my car. and says "Ohh ono sir, ohh not.. cannot drive… not auto..car is parked over there…" point me to the car, and i think WTF??"

I think well buddy, you've just lost yourself a nice tip, i don't mind getting the car myself, but bloody weird right??

anyways, get the car, drive out the front, let the misses in and scoot off home..

next morning i go to cover the car up, and to my horror, there is a massive scratch from the top of the front right quarter panel all the way to the bottom of the panel.. so starts off right op top next to the bonnet and all the way to the bottom of the panel.. 60 cm in length or so.. and its bloody deep, right to the bare metal….

FARK!!!!

So yeah, Happy new years!!

That will teach me for letting vallet's park my car, and i cant say anything to the hotel as i only spotted it when i came home.. they parked my car next to a caynenne piece of shit, very very closely.. maybe the person getting into/out of that thing did it?? either way.. bloody pissed off and annoyed..

No bloody good at all mate. Seems like a strangely positioned scratch, maybe the cayenne passengers Gucci handbag scraping down the side? At least you know a good paint shop....

If I were you I'd go back to the hotel and ask to talk to the manager. Sorry for your loss.

Vanne, so sorry to hear your car was scratched. I once parked in a parking garage and came out to find the entire right side of the car had been smeared by another car. I didn't much care for that car, but if it happened to my M roadster, I'd be sick. My insurance treated it as a hit and run. Hopefully yours will do the same, and you can get it repaired to your satisfaction.

Vanne, so sorry to hear this mate!
I really feel your pain, especially since you just had the paint refreshed.
I would be ready to explode.

I can't believe how people can do this sort of thing.

Go back to the hotel asap. It's always best to document, even if they say they won't do anything about it. Sometimes if you make enough noise, they will do anything to shut you up

Sorry to hear about the vandalism on your car! Here in Texas that will get you ass kicked REALLY FAST!
I stoppped letting the M Coupe being vallet parked, the last time I was at a high in hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. About 3-5 vallet guys running all over themselves to get to the car! That quickly threw up the red flag. But the wife said "its ok". Leaving the hotel the next day I call down to get the car driven to the front. We arrived downstairs and wait....and wait.....30 minute wait....FINALLY I get the head of the hotel come to me and ask if my car had a "kill switch" because the car would not crank. Dead as a hammer! I finally am taken to the car where they have a charger on the car to boost the battery and start the car...the idiot vallet had left the lights on and completely drained the battery. A new battery was paid for buy the Vallet company but that was the LAST time I let anyone vallet my car!

this is one thing I'm so glad hasn't taken hold in the uk, valet for me seems like the a recipe for disaster on so many levels, id MUCH rather park my car myself, in a spot i choose, and take my usual level of care when doing so....

The last thing i want is people that don't give a damn parking my car for me...

Sorry about the damage OP hope it gets sorted as painless as possible.

Who ever did this deserves a whupping like Hulk gave Loki in The Avengers.

I wonder if the restaurant would have any surveillance video that could be helpful? I totally feel your pain.

Sorry Vanne for the obvious vandalism...especially after the gorgeous paint refresh. A lot of good advice already given. But, I know you will make sure it will be fixed to perfection.

Ahhh so sorry that happened to you people can be so terrible!

I was a porter at a Porsche dealer in high school, and driving a manual was a basic pre-req. It's scary to think that the manual is so endangered nowadays that even a valet can't operate it.

Thanks for the sentiments guys, much appreciated…

Ive got an appointment with my paint guy on the 5th, so hopefully he will be able to work some magic. Yeah pretty peeved, but i guess still pretty lucky. Could have been involved in a smash i guess, and its only a scratch. .. took me a while to cool it,

Josh, i did go back to the hotel, but after a very frustrating 5 minutes i started yelling, and thats never a good thing..

so no help from them. I spoke to the manager who was trying to be helpful i guess, but at all times he was saying that it could not have happened on his premisses. lol, gotta love it.. they did have CCTV, but without the police involved were not allowed to show me anything.

at any rate, the drive back from the hotel (went the long way home) cleared my head a little and now cool with it, i spoke to the paint guy the day after already and he confirmed he still has some red left from my job. so thats AWESOME!!

Thanks again guys, I've got a few pics of said damage, but unless someone wants to see, i won't post em up. Hopefully all sorted soon.

I know exactly how you feel Vanne. Though not my coupe but was out Christmas shopping, parked my E91 as close to the right curb as possible so had about 3-5 feet to any car that would park on the left side and what do you know a major ding on the upped crease on the rear left door. Called about getting it PDR but was told can't be done. Really pissed me off.

Great stuff Vanne, sounds like you have a great guy to work with.

I'm trying to find someone similar nearby, I wasn't really happy with the guys that did my bumpers when I filled them.
I have a guy lined up that has done a lot of resto paint work that I'm going to try over the winter when I get my next bumper mods finished .
Hope he's as good as your guy!

Really happy to see your baby back ship shape!
