Out for a drive on Saturday...
Out for a drive on Saturday, heading home and notice some oddness on my windshield. Oh, crap is sprinkling! Just kept her a 75 and drove through to the other side, less than a 1/2 mile or good steady rain. Only water in was from the edges of the windshield. I then remember that this had happened to me many years ago. Back in the 80s my parents had a VW GTi Rabbit convertible, I was taking my girlfriend home on I70, the speed limit was 55mph way back then. It started to rain and I jumped up to 70 and zoomed her home, passing her neighbor the Highway Patrolman :-O
When he pulled in next door he came over to give me a 'talking to' ahh memories...I guess I never learned/listened Steve |

Driving top down when raining is one of favourties actually There's just something very pleasant about the whole thing - water flying over top of your head, the air smells so clean and fresh and it feels slightly naughty!
Only issue is the bloody idiots around here that slow to a crawl during a storm. Now I really want a rain storm! -gc |

I love driving top down while it's raining, and going just fast enough so that nothing gets in the cabin. The only problem is when the windshield gets too covered, you hit the wipers, and then some water comes in around the corners.
70mph seems right about the sweet spot, I guess the air rushing over the car creates a cushion that no rain can penetrate? Love seeing the lock on peoples' faces as I cruise top down in a rain storm. |
