Illuminated Door Sills?

Hey All,

The door sills on my '06 Z4M are kinda scratched and I am debating as to whether to replace them.

What do folks think of the illuminated door sills? I can get them for around 300 bucks. They looks pretty nice.

I don't want to take away from the "M" look however there are M badges everywhere on this car...I think people would still know it's a M car

I agree with the over placement of "M" all over the car, but honestly I think the M sills are one of the few cool placements. I wonder if we can get enough people interested, if we can get one of those sellers on ebay to do some custom sets for us...I'd definitely throw down some good money for that mod.

mine are scratched up too. I say just deal with the scratches because no matter how cautious you are, your passengers will still scratch up their side and you would have just wasted $300. Unless you plan on coating them with something scratch resistant. So much money for little details that only you would notice

I like the illuminated sills, BUT technically your car is an M Roadster and not a Z4. This is my issue with them. If they made an M version, it would be neat. When I bought my car, the previous owner had Z4 floor mats. I quickly bought the M version and sold the old ones.

I am not making it up. Look at the window sticker of an M Roadster. It doesn't say Z4 anywhere on it.... Of course I know the M is just a gussied up Z4, but BMW doesn't look at it that way.

marketing spin, nothing more.

I have an official BMW poster of an Imola Red M Roadster, which is referred to in bold lettering as the "Z4M Roadster", right on the poster.

This is from the window of my car. No mention of "Z4" anywhere. I would take this as the official designation...

"z4 m roadster/z4 m coupe"
Read again: "on the actual car"

In print (manuals, flyers, posters etc) BMW needs the general public to relate to some model they've seen plenty of. On the car itself however, there's ZERO mention of "Z4". That's the only point.

Exactly. The issue BMW has is there were Z3 and Z4 versions of the M Roadster. This is the only reason I list Z4 M Roadster in my profile. Some folks don't know the production dates so M Roadster alone may not give enough info. As the rest of the car has no mention of being a Z4M, I try to keep it looking this way(thus the replacement of the Z4 mats with M mats). Why would BMW make BOTH Z4 and M mats if they did not think there was a difference?
