Console Difference E85/E86 and Coupe?
!!!!BAD INFO - READ ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE TAKING THIS INFO AT FACE VALUE!!!!
I so now see there are some interior difference in the middle console - as in the ashtray for sure, but I am not sure if that is a E85/E86 difference or a roadster/coupe difference? Are the middle console parts different between the coupe and roadster, or are these changes between the E85 and E86??? I know about behind the seats, but I mean like the shift surround, ashtray, tray under the ebrake - etc?? I thought all E85/E86 middle parts were the same...... I was clearly wrong, just not sure if it is year or body style related. Any idea? !!!!BAD INFO - READ ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE TAKING THIS INFO AT FACE VALUE!!!!

But 02-05 are different than 06+ then? Did the facelift change the console some too? I know the ashtray that I bought from a 07 coupe is different than my 04 roadster. I am not sure if the other items in the console are to or not. The rear sub woofer grills are the same and the knee pads in the console appear to be the same too. Just wondering what else is going to be different when I get in there. I was shocked by the ashtray as I thought they were all the same.
I just was not sure if it was year difference or roadster/coupe difference.

Those are pre/post facelift differences, not coupe/roadster differences.
However, the "upper console" (dome light, etc.) is different between the coupe and the roadster. |

OK - got it. I never knew they changed the interior on the facelift too. I kind thought that made more sense than the roadster / coupe from a manufacturing standpoint though.
Now to see what else is different in here as I go....should be interesting. Pays to do research FIRST! =) Thanks

Lets go back to square one. E85 is a roadster, E86 is a coupe. So the question is it an E85/E86 difference or a roadster/coupe difference is the wrong question. I think the source of the console difference has been addressed in the responses, but to correct this for the original poster before it causes more issues.

Yes - sorry you are correct - I was using E85 / E86 for pre / post facelift for some reason. I just was typing the wrong thing.
So for clarity - the E85 and E86 have the same front middle console parts, as long as the years are the same - post facelift there was some mild changes made. The ashtray for sure (ask me how I know) and maybe more once I get farther in. Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking one thing and typing another.

Actually - I am an idiot. I did not realize that the ashtray was in 2 pieces. Once I got mine out and saw how it was attached and went back and relooked at the newer one - they are the same. I thought the ashtray slipped in and out of the main console piece, but it actually slips in and out of the outer ashtray part - which connects to the main console.
After I took mine out - it all became clear. Plus side is now I know exactly how to take my entire console out of the car and put it back in! Sorry for the confusion - I am just stupid and still learning.
