First aid box Install ??
Want to put First aid boxes under both seats for added storage. I have a 2006 Z4 mr, my seats are electric and want to know how hard the install is and if there are any problems doing this. Also will it give me that much more storage?? Seems like ECS is the cheapest I can find. Any input would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Mike...

Haven't seen a diy here (haven't looked myself) but I do remember seeing one over on E46fanatics that was really detailed. Should be fairly similar with only minor differences.

It's a pretty simple DIY: http://www.billswebspace.com/bmwmc.htm
It's really small though. If you're looking for extra storage get a leatherz armrest. |

It's very easy. (2) screws install the bracket in the holes in the seat frame going straight up. I lined the inside of mine with felt since they are very hollow sounding plastic with stuff in them. They are very small. I paid $33 for a pair of them from getbmwparts, but that was a very long time ago.

Miine slide into the bracket and lock in place perfectly. Maybe the attaching screws were over tightened and distorted the mounting bracket. Remove the bracket from the seat and see if the box locks into place while not installed in the car.

I installed 2 of these with power/heated seats a couple months ago with no problems. I don't really use them much at the moment though. I keep a bottled water in each one in case I get thirsty
Pungo makes a good suggestion. I also made sure it locked into place prior to installation. It also gives you an idea of which way the bracket gets installed so you don't install it backwards or upside down. Don't laugh - when your head is upside down trying to screw upwards instead of downwards it's easy to lose your bearings. |
