New 3.4 Stroker Build has started
At my last track event we ran into a few issues and found our way home on the back of a flat bed truck. We were due for a Vanos Rebuild, Valve Adjustment and adding Schrick Cams. The plan was to get one more weekend before starting this project. Unfortunately, we only got through the first day and started experiencing a loss of power on my last laps. It was not a surprise to hear the dreaded rattle in the front of the engine and we just got towed to the shop. After further investigation, we discovered a slung a bearing as well. That was the last thing I wanted to hear, but it became evident that this would be the best time to take things up another notch. To start off with, I want to be clear, I take my car to the track regularly and my objectives are more focused on reliability and mid range power. This kind of usage does not work well for superchargers, leading to why I chose to go with a 3.4 Stroker. I found 2 different kits, Lang Racing's & VAC's and after speaking with both groups went with Lang's kit. Lang Racing's kit is a little over $7,000 and includes
We are also upgrading the intake, adding a CSL Airbox evolve CSL airbox with this upgrade replacing the AFE cold air intake. We are also going to be replacing the oil pump and cooler to ensure there is no metal in the system. Prior to finding the bearing issue we added these upgrades. Schrick Camshaft Set (S54) - 288/280 12.5mm Lift & Rocker Arms Vanos Upgrade - Full Beisan kit with a TT C300 hub upgrade Existing Upgrades
Once the crankshafts get delivered, I will start giving you guys updates as this is going to take about 12 weeks to complete. My Goal is to end up with around 425 hp at the crank with 365 - 380 at the wheel. |

The Machine Shop I am scheduled for is Grimes Automotive Machine and the installation is Harrison Motorsports. www.HarrisonMotorsports.com
They have been doing all the work on this car since I purchased it. Very lucky to have a number of great shops in my area who all do great work. HarrisonMotorsports.com Grimes Automotive Machine RobinsonRacing.net CarbonSignature.com |

I have spoken with a few people about upgrading injectors and both said the same thing, it's better to stay with the OEM. I was thinking about going with larger throttle bodies, since I was moving to the CSL air box.

I'd be curious to know who said that...TTFS and Lang had a customer that ran out of injector on one of his strokers. http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showp...postcount=1475 http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showp...5&postcount=12 |

Both Lang and Harrison Motor Sports both told me the same thing based on my cars set up. Currently we are planning on 1st overbore, .25 and 11.5:1 compression, stock valves, using Shrick 280/272. Utilizing the 95mm a larger bearing set. I am thinking about upgrading to a stage 2 cylinder head, adding larger throttle bodies, which I think would call for larger injectors. I am sure things will change as we get deeper into this. |

You can also see most of it here.
We are now pushing 437hp/386 wheel hp / 274 ft lbs torque. This is an awesome setup and the power on the track is unbelievable. https://www.facebook.com/pg/MCast2016/photos/ https://www.instagram.com/whmcast056/ |
