Where do you service/modify your bimmer?
Primarily geared towards the Southern Ontario group, but I guess this thread would be nice for people of their own locale's too so we can get a little database of trustworthy shops.
Where do you guys go to have modifications done to your car? Specifically I'm looking for someone to install my Dinan exhaust. |

I'm in between dealers right now and I've heard some horror stories about Herb Chambers BMW in Boston...so I'm on the look out for a new place. If anyone in the bean-town area has any suggestions I'm definately open to them

RMP would be the best choice if exhaust installation is the only upgrade. As far as OE's, the only place I'll bring my Car is Parkview BMW at Eglington & Leslie (They're a DINAN installer - get their parts through Engineered Automotive).

I have my car serviced by Don Katsumi at Autotrend, located near Greektown. I've found him to be honest and forthright, and he has the pedigree to match (fmr service manager at a bmw dealership and most of his tech were bmw master mechanics as well). He's not a performance car shop, but will happily install an exhaust (he installed mine).

I'll second engineered automotive, I've been taking my cars to Billy, Steve, and Lu for about 10 years. They're not inexpensive, but they still come in below most dealers (especially BMW Toronto). I've never had any issues with their work and they're pretty tapped into the performance BMW market. Would recommend them without question, also they been doing Dinan installs for quite a few years now.

Enthusiast Auto Group in Cincinnati, OH. Have only ever needed maintenance items but have been happy with the whole process and their prices.

Definitely a reputable place I would take my car. I have done everything myself so far, but should I need a shop, I will go to Lang Racing in Southern California.

If all you are changing is the two rear sections, grab a socket set and one of these (https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-38350-E.../dp/B0012S9A5U)
Changing exhausts is one of the easiest things to do on a car and get started on the fantastic road to skinned knuckles and cursing rants. |

German Performance Service in Brighton. Specialty BMW/Porsche shop and they won't empty your bank account every time you walk in.

Whoever put out the idea of mapping reputable shops, can we get something like that going? I think many of us would benefit from that.
And I hope I'm not hijacking this thread (didn't want to spam General with another question about shops), but can anyone recommend any good shops in Los Angeles? I just moved near Culver City and a lot of the reviews for the places around here are mediocre. Need new brake pads and an oil change.

Annapolis, MD area
Silver Star Service Center located in Edgewater, Maryland.
My wife's Z4 goes there for everything - they only perform service on what needs to be done, great prices, and they let you now what the condition of your Bimmer is, along with what might need servicing next and how much. They have never tried to upsell, as a matter of fact they do the opposite - refreshing indeed. Silver Star Service Center, Inc. is a second generation family owned business serving Annapolis since 1987. Joe Hall, a Master Technician, started Silver Star after 13 years with the local Mercedes Dealer, Benson Motor Cars, Ltd. They specialize in the service, repair, and maintenance of Mercedes, BMW, Saab, and Jaguar. I highly recommend them if you live in Maryland. |
