Wiper blade replacement inserts part numbers?
Anyone knows the part number for the driver side wiper blade replacement insert? RealOEM indicates both driver and passenger side to be the same (61618220913) x2. But this is in fact NOT the case. The 61618220913 number is a 20" blade, which will fit the passenger side. The driver side blade, on the other hand, measured 21". Thanks.

No idea about the inserts, but i'd just grab the P/N for the whole piece here. I suspectthis is exactly where you were looking??

Yep...I'm looking at part #5, which is a 20" insert that will only fit the passenger side.

These. They're 24" and you cut them to length.
Make sure you cut the end that doesn't have the lock notches. I think I got the idea from an old thread that started just like this one, and ended with the 24" as the best option. Since then I've switched to Michelin Stealth.

That's cool info, saves a few bucks over buying the new oem set. Much appreciated.

In dealing with Seattle rain, I've honestly found the OEM wiper blades to last longer and fit better. I thought the BMW inserts were NLA but if ECS has them I'm going to order soo many.

When I first got my Certified Used M Coupe, I thought the once per year wiper blade replacement was ridiculous. My blades have never lasted like that in Florida sun. Turned out they did fine with once per year. When the free replacements ran out, and BMW wanted a king's ransom for the complete blade, I did some research on the forums and found out that Valeo blades were recommended by many. full blade, not insert, available on Amazon and others for about what you would pay at Pep Boys for pedestrian brands. I have used them on my wife's Pilot now for two years, were in good shape when I replaced them yearly, same for the M. In fact, blades on there now are 16 months, I have had new ones since June, but have held off replacing since the 16 month ones are still fine.
Psygnosis, be careful about buying too many. Life of a blade is partly exposure but also partly just life--Your brand new blades you have kept in the garage for four years may just be useless. I have no idea what the shelf life is, just a thought. |

The OE blade have an extra deflector piece on the driver side, which prevents blade lifting when used while driving at speed - this isn't available on aftermarket blades. This is the main reason I like to stick with the OE blade.
