CEL-Check Engine Light. I believe on the Z4M it says "Service Engine Soon" (SES from this point forward lol). In the event that my car is really trying to warn me with a SES light, I won't know because my light is already lit up I don't have much feedback on TTFS for the Z4M (Tuning Tech Frank Smith) but I've read/heard about TTFS relative to the S54 on E46 M3's. Should be identical or similar tuning on our cars I suppose. Here's another link about Z4M tune options http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1350004

You have a large diameter change in your exhaust, which affects the velocity. Pressure and velocity are inversely proportional, meaning high speed = low pressure, low speed = high pressure. Going to a larger diameter slows the flow and increases back pressure. It's probably not a huge difference, but if you're looking to squeeze every last horsepower out of the car, then it's worth a couple hundred dollars to have resonators welded in.
Resonators help clean up the sound without affecting the flow to a great extent. Quote:
It is possible to tune the car to have it show that it passed, showing "ready". Emissions places have gotten smarter and some reset the ECU, and if the ECU still shows "ready" vs "not ready", they know you're cheating. Quote:

I noticed the RE transmission mount bolts are longer than OEM, and cause vibration issues with most aftermarket s-pipes. I trimmed the end of one bolt to provide enough clearance. I have the TTFS tune on one of my Z4M's. Performance is spot on. Frank can do amazing things, but it can be difficult to get ahold of the shop.

when i went to the DKF with the 100 CELL units... the noise volume went up so much i may as well have gone catless and resonators... Once you get to 100 CELL i dont think they are much of a restriction.

TTFS is legit for tuning our cars. Very meticulous the way he does the tuning. |
