Anyone Replace Parking Brake Shoe?

After 9 years and nearly 80k I think my rear shoes need to be replaced. Tried adjusting the ebrake last year but still doesn't bite unless I really pull the lever to very last 'click'

Just wondering how long others waited till replacing their rear shoes.

Did you pull the rotor to check shoes?
Sometimes it's the cable that gets stretched.

Not yet. That's first thing I was going to do when I throw the track pads back on. But was wondering if 80k was right around time one should have to service the shoes.

Unless you use your e-brake handle for while driving, I doubt the shoes are warn out. The cable probably needs adjusting. If that doesn't work, as Tgr8r mentioned, pull the rotor and check the condition of the shoes.

I replaced mine when I replaced my rotors at just under 100k miles.
They were working OK at the time.
It was one of those "as long as I'm in there, I'm replacing everything" jobs.

I agree, but what I think the real issue is is rust. The integrated drum is probably rusty. As a maintenance item, it's best to actually drive a few thousand feet with the parking brake engaged to keep the drum and shoes rust free.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
