Finally picking it up!!!

For the 2006 Z4M... I went and spoke with the seller again last night and we agreed on a price. Tomorrow I'm dropping off money and picking it up!! I was able to test drive it last night as well.. felt like driving a nicer version of my M3 (e36 w. coilovers and 6spd swap).

I'm so shocked and happy he was willing to hold it for me for the past few weeks- maybe even a month now to wait for me to finish closing on the new house!

Car has quite a few little goodies on it, so I feel I was able to get a pretty good deal! There was another that popped up locally for $1000 less, but it was black with tan interior.

I'll update tomorrow with pictures- it's the silver gray metallic with black interior. All of the pictures he had sent were rather fuzzy

But one question I do have -- he mentioned the ebrake was broken, something about the bracket had broke and it's all a single piece. He is including the replacement part for it. But how bad of a pain is it to swap that out??

Congrats! Make sure to post some photos when you pick up it!

Not sure what he's talking about with the ebrake. I'm sure someone can shine some light on it though.

I know when I test drove it, lifting the handle of the ebrake had no effect, so definitely doesn't work :P

congrats! be sure to post photos for us!

I had a problem with my ebrake upon receipt from my car's previous owner too. In my case, it was a worn/damaged gear that attaches the ebrake arm itself. My local indy shop was able to perform the repair without dropping exhaust and transmission but the tech did comment it was tight. Not sure if that's the problem you're having, but it cost me around $500 for the fix. My advice, don't be violent or too rough when you engage the ebrake. I saw my previous owner use it before the sale, and that explained to me why it was damaged!

Wow, ebrake appears to be a common failure on these cars! When I traded in my last Z4M (worst decision ever!), the dealer told me the cable broke almost immediately after I dropped the car off. Price to fix was like $700.

I'm keeping an eye on this with my current Z4M. ;D

I almost never use the E Brake. Especially when the brakes are hot to warm I never use it.
But good to know for sure
Thx

Outstanding!! Look at the timeless design, that car still looks brand new nearly 12 years on. Awesome!

Enjoy her, I love my Z4M more than anything I've ever driven.

Congrats on the purchase. Are those side view mirrors aftermarket or just repainted/wrapped?

They have a carbon piece that slips/ wraps over the mirror. I'm guessing it has 3m holding it on

Nice car! Let us know when/if you address that issue with your hand brake. I also have the same problem; when I have my car on and need to quickly step out to check something I can't just leave it on neutral because my hand brake doesn't engage correctly, allowing my car to roll down. It's a PITA to have to turn off the car every time

Sadly, that was the case with this. When I picked it up from the previous owner, it was on a downward slope.. So it rolled into the curb and really damaged the front where either side of the lip stick out

So the seller knew about the ebrake issue and still let that happen upon delivery? Pretty sad.

Honestly you can't really see the damage unless you're upclose
