Ordered one as well, thanks for the info. Going to try again to install the euro software and change a few settings (click to pass, unlock both doors, etc.).

Hey Ship... thanks for the info, I downloaded the software last night but I haven't been able to install it yet.... however, do you know if there is a way to lower the voltage on the rear O2 sensors with this software?.

Thanks....

The software/cable from Romania arrived yesterday, but have not tried it out yet. Anyone else with recent orders after this thread received the package yet and tried it out?
Obviously pirated software, but what the hey...as long as it doesn't erase the car!

Yeah, for me it was a hardware issue...VM7 and up were giving me an error saying couldn't be installed on my old X31 laptop as the CPU didn't support a few things. I installed VM6 last night and all seems to be fine.

I think the cable on that ebay posting is a clone of
http://bmtechnic.co.uk/

It's about the same price..but at least you are getting the original. you get accesss to the forums and support from the company.

makes installation of inpa, winkfp, sss one click.

If you want simple advanced error reading try PAsoft for about 30 bucks. Also lets you program basic things like running lights, alarm auto lock settings. etc.

Did you order from this guy? It looks to be $63 shipped to the US.

and it works flawlessly on the z4

Our codes are in german
the maker has a package to make it english but you have to downgrade and you loose some functionality so I left it german and and I just google

rkstar9 - Hello from the west burbs!!

I just got mine from an eBay auction and had no problems installing Win7x64. I've cleared trouble codes, updated LCM & ZKE coding already but some of the modules show "not found" including ones I know the car has. My software is version 1.4.0.7, I've seen several people mention a 0.8 and 0.9 versions but everything I found on the web for downloads were just Malware installers.

What version of PASoft do you have running?

I have one of those cables and most of that software. Haven't gotten a chance to try installing it yet on my Windows 7 MBP, but I did try and fail to install it on my previous laptop running windows 7 64 bit.

I think I messed up one of the environmental variables somewhere along the way. If you do get a failed installation, I think you really need to start over with a clean windows install to be successful, otherwise there is too much stuff left behind when you uninstall and try again.

Been hunting for a cheap windows xp laptop for a while to dedicate to this.

This has not been my experience.

I have downloaded over a 2 terebytes of files trying different versions and install over the last few years and not once have I had anything malicious come up. If you go to dedicated sites/forums that cater to (mostly) the automotive software crowd, the users on these sites go out of their way to make sure the software is safe.
