I installed an OEM alarm system some time ago, but it wasn't until now that I was finally able to code the car to get the system working.

Why the heck a car that originally sold for over $50K didn't come with a stock alarm is beyond me.

It did in my Country... Here they would steal it in no time if there was no alarm.

I'm on the pre-order for this box, #7 serial number. Once they get to full production capacity they're going to be offering a fibreglass-like version - I know that's what you were after. I sprung for the full CF though as some believe the slightly thinner material will allow the noise to resonate more and as a result LOUDER. Also go-big or go-home.

Quote:
The S-Glass item will be arround 20% cheaper or in that neighbourhood. I have posted prices before, the price was arround 315 usd less.

The S-Glass is again almost the same thickness as the CF, a tad thicker actually - 280grams. Per area the S-glass is stronger than CF, and since it is a tad thicker it should get back up in rigidity as well. Thing is, on that box, we have enough edges and internal bracings that that rigidity wount be an issue at all with S-glass - as it is more rigid than aluminium anyway. There will be barely any difference. The S-glass box might be 0.3mm thicker in some places... I don't believe that is noticable at all.

Heat soak is not an issue at all. S-Glass is made from the same exact principle as carbon fiber. Think of it as GLASS WOOL vs STONE WOOL. The resin is the same as well, both will be baked in the same furnace - there is not mutch difference at all. The only difference will be the looks and weight. The S-glass box will be less than a kilo heavier than the CF item. So it is an incredible alternative we believe. I am actually a bit proud of that!
Example of what the S-Glass looks like, they'll be doing a black or white version:

Are they open to a group buy? Which company is this, assuming its a newcomer in the CSL intake landscape?

There is a group buy planned, with a massive interest list of nearly 100 people, over on the M3Forum side.

Company is Streamline Autosport, they're a relatively new company that's done a few products for the M3 - bumpers, fenders, roofs, etc. and have been designing their airbox for a while. The intent with the airbox was Karbonius quality at Geoff Steele pricing, we'll see how it turns out.

Cleaned the soft top fabric. Don't think original owner treated it much during the 10 years. I tried Raggtop but the results weren't what I hoped. After doing some research I figured I'd give 303 a try. The results were pretty impressive.

Pictures 1 & 2 (Before) - in rain and shine

Pictures 3 thru 5 (After) - after using 303... looks tan under direct sunlight but under normal conditions look closer to the gray.

Very different driving experience, you feel more connected to your surroundings which is good and bad. Driving top down during feels great whether it’s 65 and overcast or 85 and clear skies. You almost want a reason to just go drive no matter the conditions.

It definitely feels less claustrophobic yet the headroom “feels” noticeably less and therefore I feel more exposed. When I tracked the coupe I didn’t ever feel the need to hold back. I was chasing my times and I didn’t care if I was pushing it. In the roadster I can’t help but think I should dial it back, going 90mph feels like 120 in the coupe. My first track day with the roadster is 2nd weekend of July at Lime Rock so it’ll be interesting to see how it compares.

I won’t say the roadster is better but it’s just different. The coupe certainly looks better compared to the soft top but with top down I’d say it’s pretty comparable. Can’t go wrong with either one.

Bought & installed some OEM bits:

- 8.3mm "sports" antenna; hope this one will last longer than its 10mm precursor.

- windshield wiper blades, which to my surprise meant pretty much the whole wiper assembly including driver side wind deflector.

- Velours floor mats to spare my Individual mats a bit.

- new cup holder. Awesome design, very sturdy. I think the original may have been broken since the day I got the car. I wanted to replace it just to never use it again.

Air conditioning went out while on a date, so after an emergency trip to Minnesota I had to get it repaired.

The humidity here in Orlando is terrible so I couldn't put this off at the beginning of summer!

New floor mats. Easy purchase, you say. Well, not so much, at least for me. I was accustomed to the M logo or Z4 logo stitched to the side of the mats, and a large round "loop" patch (hook and loop) attached to the underside of the mat. This patch hooked to the two black hard plastic pads the screwed into the car carpeting. This type of mat is distributed by BMW dealerships. They are the ones with the thin gray foam on the back that has a habit of rapid deterioration. Happily, I found part number 51 47 7 030 765, also available through the dealership. It has two oblong "hook" pads attached to the mat bottom, and, surprisingly, it perfectly matches the oblong loop patches attached to the carpet. As a plus, the bottom of the mat appears to be considerably more robust that the this foam on the embroidered mats.

Personally, I am not a fan of carpeted floor mats. I put Weathertec floor liners in my Z4MR. While Weathertech will say they are not for manual tranny, they work just fine. These catch more crap and keep the carpet cleaner.

Yes, it is. The carpeted floor mats do look nice. I just have a harder time with keeping them looking that way. Though, for my garage queen, she doesn't see wet or snowy weather and not a ton of miles, so I don't need to worry about that issue so much. Anyways, I've grown accustomed to having the Weathertech floor liners on my other cars, so it is good that that option exists.

I just installed a First Aid box under my passenger seat for a bit of extra storage. My wife can store her visor, tissues, etc. within easy reach, instead of trying to twist around to use the center console. Hardest part was finding some suitable screws, as the mounting bracket didn't come with it. I ended up using 1/4" x 1/2" self tapping hex bolts from Ace Hardware.

Not my photo, but this is how it looks.

There is an OEM solution for this too, or is this the one? I have a box like that under my passenger seat also.
