diff upgrade options for automatic

I've done a bit of reading on the diff upgrade options but it seems all the info is for standard trannies being upgraded with the diff from the e46 autos. Are there any such options for my 05 with an auto box? Does the diff from say an X3 work or would I need to go LSD from someone like Qaife, if they even make one for the auto.

X3 diffs can work, but they may require some modifications. I'd send you a link if I was on my personal computer. Try google.

There was a member here with a 3.91 in his non-M, so it has been done.

As far as LSD options go, Performance Gearing (http://www.performancegearing.com) is the least expensive option I've found. Quality is reported to be high, and Jim Blanton is known throughout the community. A Quaife unit is installed into your current diff, so the gearing you have now remains. You won't get any extra mechanical advantage.

I believe you have a 3.46 final drive. I have a full 3.64 unit from a 2.5i with 17k miles that I would let go for cheap. If you're interested, PM me to discuss.

I did a bunch of searches for this member, found nothing, anyone have any idea who it might have been?

I don't remember the user name. I believe he was from Florida and claimed the 3.91 was totally usable.

Does anybody know how many hours of labor are needed to replace the stock open diff in a 2007 Z4 3.0i 6MT with a Perf Gearing LSD?
Thanks!

I've been quoted anywhere from 3 1/2 hours to 5 hours. I've heard you can do it yourself in half that time. I'll let you know in a few months when I swap in my 3.64.
